So with Tyson recently giving his thoughts on the fight. I have to give mine a little more thorough. I am teamCanelo across the board. I respect Mayweather, I'm a fan of his also. The beauty in this fight is how Canelo is such an underdog with boxing fans but is Favorited with casuals. I'm not on this casual bandwagon. Been a Canelo fan since 2008. Now he is here to get his shine. I feel Canelo won't be outclassed in this fight as this fight is 50/50 to 60/40, thats it. This won't be a dominating performance by Floyd. A knockdown could well change the pace and also the overall outcome of the fight. I expect Canelo to be surprisingly technical to alot of haters here and worldwide. I expect Canelo to be fast, using traps, footsies, and and his quick hands to establish his presence on the ring and to the world. Roy Jones mentioned in the Lopez fight Canelo throws combinations like himself along with "hooking off the pivot". I'm just giving Canelo his props as alot of ESB'ers are not and think Canelo is just some "new" fighter with a record of 16-0 or some ****. I don't think experience plays a factor in this because if Canelo is 42-0 that says to me....EXPERIENCE. When ya'll say experience again ya'll are coming at Canelo like he is 16-0, if he was 16-0 then you have an argument. Boxing is boxing, with 42 fights and no loses I personally would feel like I got some damn experience myself. The skills acquired after 42 fights would be adequate time to test them with a fighter like Mayweather. It's a thinking man's game, so if I am quick, crafty, strong, can box, and smart...hell I would fight Mayweather too. The Trout fight was beautiful boxing to me on Canelo's part, and Trouts. Canelo is a trickster, he fooled Trout into fighting his fight. Trout trained for the type of fighter Canelo is NOT. Canelo is not a come forward pressure fighter. But yet his patience and calmness in the ring is just as menacing, because like Mayweather with Canelo... "If you make a mistake, you gonna have to pay" I expect Mayweather to do alot of tieing up in this fight. They BOTH have low punch output. Tired of Floyd huggers swearing its just Canelo with low punch output. They BOTH pick their shots, so thats why this is more of a chess match then another Mayweather/Hatton or Mayweather/Cotto. This fight won't be like any other Mayweather fights when its over it will have its own definition. This content is protected This content is protected teamCanelo still This content is protected
The problem is that Canelo's experience factor doesn't mean a lot when you look at his quality of opposition(the best two in-ring opponents he's faced in terms of condition were Gomez and Trout) and he has shown some fairly obvious flaws in his game against that opposition. He was arguably losing to the undersized Alfonso Gomez prior to getting a ridiculously fast hometown stoppage because Gomez confused him with movement, a good jab, and a nice mix of punches, causing Canelo to not get the openings he typically gets against lesser boxers in terms of technique and since Canelo doesn't like to waste punches, he simply didn't throw. He arguably did lose to Trout in a fight that could have gone either way because of that low workrate again. So naturally, against a guy who is a better boxer than either and athletically more gifted, you can't expect much. The catchweight of 152 lbs just seals the deal more because Canelo also has questionable stamina and is a huge fight night weight gainer, so he's likely to be sluggish and have less stamina due to the drain. Floyd will also likely play the fight at his safety-first best, not taking risks with Canelo's size and power, making the fight an occasional potshot fest with Canelo being too slow to respond.
I'm supporting Canelo but he's slow compared to Floyd. Floyd will potshot and run his way to a wide UD. There aren't many good fighters that could beat Floyd to the punch, Pac was one that could match his speed but let's not get in to that. If you think Floyd will try to trade or anything like that you are mistaken.
well better for floyd to chance his undefeated record in a close competitive fight with canelo than to have taken a chance to be clearly defeated against pacquiao a few years back. if you get what im sayin
I stopped reading after: "Canelo is a trickster, he fooled Trout into fighting his fight." No he did not, the scores where announced after 4 rounds with all 3 judges having Canelo winning everything, thats what made Trout come forward, not Canelo. I also think Canelo will win, but stop with the bull5hit please.
Canelo started the Trout fight with patience, he didn't hunt Trout down from the beginning. The scores just cemented his gameplan.
Make your mind up, was it Canelo being a trickster that made Trout come forward? Or was it that his 'patience' won him the first 4 rounds which forced Trout to come forward and force the pace thereafter?? Trout clearly was at the very least even after 4, when it was announced he was 4-0 down wtf was he supposed to do? Canelo had a 4 round cushion so could afford to be patient and wait for the opening.
Open scoring ruins fights. Even if the scores stay close, it ruins the suspense for the fans and changes the way fighters box in the fight. It won't matter anyway, after sept 14th, the trout fight will be a memory and so will Alvarez. Everyone says he can come back from losing to floyd Because he is young. He is at 154 and will soon have to move up to 160, if he gets beat by a 36 year old who is really a 147lb fighter, what will he do with GGG or Martinez? Just like cloud getting beat by bernard hopkins, clould is done. A young guy is not supposed to get beat up by an old man. Unless he is completely outclassed?
Yeah, both canelo and floyd are brands. We know sometime the business side of boxing has an extremely heavy influence on the way the judges go. (Think Bradley vs Pac, Pac's contract was about to expire so a fight that most would have thought to go his way, didnt) Here we have Canelo who has many fights left in him. We all know a fighters 0 is worth A LOT of money. So we wonder what will happen if it comes down to the cards.
Just because canelo has experienced a lot of fights his experience pales compared to floyds Floyds been here and done this countless times and that's what counts
Canelo wont land anything meaningful, people forget that trout took away canelo's left hook also. I would have made this fight a 50/50 if floyd was coming a long layoff, but after his flawless performance against guerrero and staying active he will be alot sharper. I think floyd will make a statement this fight and put on a hatton type performance, i'm not saying canelo is hatton, but i can see floyd breaking him down along with taking him in deep water and drowning him in the 10th(Via Tko)
