Josenilson Dos Santos vs. Miguel Gonzalez: Josenilson Dos Santos by SD Juan Carlos Burgos vs. Yakubu Amidu: Juan Carlos Burgos TKO The past couple of Friday Night Fights on paper have been really good and it has, to an extent, lived up to the billing. This week, there isn't much to get excited about. The main event is more of a showcase and the co-feature featuring Josenilson Dos Santos-Miguel Gonzalez doesn't exactly get the blood boiling just based on the fact that they aren't exactly the most skilled fighters on the planet. But, you don't need two top of the line fighters to get a good fight. It may not be the best fight, but it could be pretty entertaining. We've seen Miguel Gonzalez a couple of times on FNF and he has a couple of nice wins on his resume, including a win his last time out over former 135 belt holder Miguel Acosta. Miguel Gonzalez is an awkward southpaw. He's more of an aggressive fighter that's more of a 1-2 fighter, a little jab, and a pretty decent left hand cross that could be prove the be big in this fight. Brazilians and fighters from south of the equator haven't had the best of time on FNF this year. They've been coming up with glossy records under the bright lights and they've been exposed, for the most part. His stablemate, Patrick Teixeria, more a less stopped the bleeding last month by winning a decision over Marcus Willis. So, Dos Santos will try and keep that momentum going. Dos Santos is a little bit different from the Brazilians we have seen this year. Most of the Brazilians that have been featured on FNF have been these fighters that are com forward, with a lot of knockouts on their record. Dos Santos isn't like that. He's more of a defensive fighter. He's adopted a bit of a shoulder roll type defense. Dos Santos does seem pretty good. He has some raw talent, he's got nice speed, a pretty good jab, he does move his head and think about defense. All in all, I'll roll with him in this fight. He seems a bit better than Miguel Gonzalez, but as I mentioned at the top. Gonzalez features his straight left hand, and he'd be smart to throw it frequently if Dos Santos will be using his shoulder roll. When facing a southpaw, the shoulder roll isn't exactly the best defense to use. Plus, this is a pretty big step up for Dos Santos. Still, I'll roll with Dos Santos by SD, why not? Now, onto the main event. This could be a somewhat entertaining fight, but just very one-sided. Juan Carlos Burgos is a highly skilled fighter and is becoming one of the best fighters (right now, currently) to not have a belt around his waist. Three years ago he had a shot at becoming a champion at 126, but came up short against Hozumi Hasegawa. And this past January he had another shot at a belt, this time at 130. He fought Roman Martinez and easily outpointed him, but, unfortunately, he was robbed. Tony Paolillo somehow saw the fight 116-112 in favor of Martinez, and John Signorile scored it a draw 114-114. Waleska Roldan, meanwhile, saw the fight like the majority of boxing fans. He scored it 117-111 in favor of Burgos. So, unfortunately, Burgos is officially 0-1-1 in world title opportunities. His opponent on Friday Night will be Yakubu Amidu. If that name rings a bell that's probably because he is managed by the actor Vince Vaughn. Amidu has a nice record of 20 wins, 18 of those coming by way of knockout, 4 losses, and a draw. But, he is an extremely flawed. A fun, tough fighter, but a flawed fighter. Amidu has a very amateurish jab, he sticks his chin in the air, no defense, wide shots....Basically, there is a massive gulf in class and Burgos should win rather handily. It's all about how focused Burgos is. Burgos can fight aggressively and he can box on the outside. He has a lot of tools by fighting inside and throwing that nice left hook he has to the head or body. Or, he can use his length and control a fight with his jab. But, Burgos does have a tendency to do neither for a couple of rounds in the middle of a fight. That won't matter in this fight, but it may dictate whether or not Burgos gets the stoppage or not. That's basically the question. Will Burgos win by stoppage or win by decision? Really, both outcomes are very favorable. Burgos may not knockout Amidu (IE: render him unconscious) but he should be able to land at will round, after round, after round. It's a question if the ref or his corner will save him in the final couple of rounds. So, Burgos may end up winning via late stoppage or wide decision. I'll go with Burgos by stoppage in this fight.
It's getting harder and harder to keep my mouth shut, I don't want to let you guys on few things I feel, think and know. So I'll wait until we get closer to the fights.
Okey, how to start... opinion you should follow should be your own, just consider this to be a second opinion from a complete stranger on the internet Now, Dos Santos is flashy, can make you think he has skills and attributes that will showcase against Gonzalez. But what I think is that he will turn as the typical Brazilian that once stepping up in opposition will find out that between the sub-par opposition he fought in his country so far and the guys he'll face on the bigger stage is a bigger gap than he could ever foresee. Dos Santos is incredibly inaccurate and has very wide punches. He is a very very poor finisher, and his power isn't good enough, not that he will land a decent punch on Gonzalez. Forget about the Brazilian having a chance of a TKO, It isn't happening unless there's some strange cut. Dos Santos rarely uses the jab, is shy and non-existent against poor opposition, dont think hell keep his cool and use it against a good fighter as Gonzalez, he wont have the confidence to use it, hell probably disregard it completely and try to use a lead straight instead. He gets wild, careless and gets hit to much. Gonzalez is also fast, very sharp and will take advantage of that. Dos Santos chin is probably better than I would have imagine, so he might last the distance, or be taken out on later in the fight. This is were I probably had it wrong. It wont happen in the 3rd, but might happen in the 7th or 9th or just go the distance. But he wont win the decision. Why? Well probably because this fight is co-promoted by Banner Promotions, no other than Gonzales team, and it happens in US, and also not the least Gonzales is the much sharper and more accurate guy. Also Gonzalez is the one who has fought at a higher level. Dos Santos best weapon is the 1-2's followed by hook to the body. Maybe going for the body it's his only chance. He only uses the jab when his opponent is in a tight guard, and is used more as an range finder. If Gonzalez can smoother him, he will take him out faster, if he cant he might take him out later. And if it goes the distance, the Brazilian wont be able to get a very wide decision and the scorecards will never be in his favor. After every loss or small trouble he had, Dos Santos was given next an very poor opponent, weaker than usual, to increase his confidence I think. I'm pretty confident in my pick even tho Gonzales has been down multiple times, I think his last 3 fights. Boxing can be surprising sometimes doh. I picked Gonzalez TKO3, but I think Dos Santos has a better chin that I initially thought and will be obstructive enough to make it until the 7th or the 8th. :bbb
Anyway if you wanna go for Dos Santos my advice is to go for TKO cuz Gonzales has been down a lot, and the straight punches might get trough and hurt him. While the decision is hard to think it will go to the Brazilian even if he actually edges it.
Aries should be the only one not correct, Ill be correcting his record soon though. I will recheck the records though just to make sure, I wouldn't want you to spend the little free time you have doing it though man :good Ive got a bit more free time these days so its no bother :thumbsup Thank you though.

I don't think posting the picks directly here was a good idea Robney. As you see I think des3995 wants to preserve the small advantage he has. He nullified your Burgos attempt at a KD or KO.
