How long has cleverly been champion and he hasnt faced anyone? Its easy to see how calzaghe lasted all them years with the WBO, the years just rack up and before you know it your an ATG longest ever world champion... Clev just fights a load of unknown east euopeans and gets nowhere... Whens he gunna fight a decent fighter...

Look at the difference between a true world champion Froch whos fought the best at 168 nd Cleverly whos fought nobody..... Froch resembles a true warrior, Cleverly is like a virgin

The organization doesn't hold the respect, the champion does. For a while Sergio Martinez didn't hold any genuine 'middleweight titles' but he was still considered the best middleweight in the world, belts don't mean jack.

WBO is just about as good as the crooked WBC, WBA and IBF. Those org.'s will probably force Vlad into knocking out Tony Thompson for a third time. Where in the Hell do they get such mandatories?

Just thinking exactly the same when I saw the question. It seems a long time ago now,but I remember thinking that Froch should get a move on when he wasn't exactly fighting world beaters. All of a sudden he stepped up the opposition and look at his record now.I think Cleverlys turning point could be next month if he manages to beat Kovalev. He could claim, fairly justifiably,to be the best at the weight and there could be good unifications against Stevenson or Bellew again. One reason Froch has lasted so long,IMO,is his dedication and training regime, which is far and away better than anybody else in the country.I think Cleverly is similar in that way.

cant compare with Froch this is true.

but then Gerogre Groves has had how many fights? compared to Clev he has stepped it up. but then compared to Brook clev is in better position. He is moving along ok.

    George has stepped it up?

Besides an old Glenn Johnson and a fight with James Degale that I think he lost I can't think of anyone of note Groves has fought.,quite frankly I don't think he's ready for Froch either.

For someone his age Cleverly is doing just fine,it's only because he holds a title that he gets so much stick,if he beats Kovalev people will probably still give him stick.

It sucks carrots, but it's actually less bad as the WBC and WBA lately. Wich tells you a lot about the state of current boxing.

I accept it as a world title now. Back when i was a kid it was like the IBO title of those days with good fighters fighting for it but it lacked prestige and was the new kid on the block.

The fights and fighters make the titles and the organisations professionalism as well. It just about clings onto it's value as a world title due to the fighters and fights.

I don't have the slightest bit of respect for any of the sanctioning bodies.

We say its **** and worthless, but anyone of us would be thrilled to be crowned the WBO World (insert relevant weight) Champion.

To win a World Title from any of the 4 main governing bodies is a massive achievement, and should not belittled.

However, I do think the Interims and Silver belts are a step too far.

I personally only acknowledge the 4 main belts WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO and give additional merit based upon the fighters themselves and those they have fought to win or defend such belts.
