I'm sure he's used to hearing that. You do realize that he's only lost twice in 13 years, right?

I remember when Thompson was still fighting nobodies like Lawrence and Matinez. MOF....the Martinez fight was on ESPN or USA TNF.

One analyst said he has the tools to compete for a title, the other said he was too upright and immobile. And referenced Wlad getting starched by Sanders as the reason Thompson would not go anywhere in the division.:lol::lol:

Being a Wlad fan, I always liked Thomspon since he's often been a KLitshcko sparring partner.:D

I didn't see it but I can imagine it vividly... TT always gets the short end of the stick and for the most part comes out on top.

I remember Kirkland from some Eurosport-shows, he looked promising there, but unfortunately he never made it to the top. Wonder what he´s doing these days.

Chef TT has 3 loses. Do you think Wlad will duck Povetkiin at the last minute??

Isn't this fight too soon for Thompson, after all, he has been knocked down in the fight against Price (and almost twice). Any opinions about this? Or will he be recovered enough to beat Pulev?

The KD did not look particularly damaging and Tony surely has consulted his doctor about the fight.

Pulev is over hyped. It will be a easy win for TT.

I agree about Pulev being mobile and pretty athletic. Quick hands. He's also pretty quick on his feet and has a good left jab. He fights pretty relaxed too like Thompson but lets be realistic, Dimitrenko and Ustinov are a few notches below Thompson for sure.

The negatives I took away from those fights were he loads up on the right hand almost like Huck. It's a long delivery so Thompson will have some chances to land with success because he throws shorter punches.

I think Thompson needs to make it an inside fight. Pulev doesn't really work inside and just covers/ties up. Honestly, I didn't see a lot of variety from Pulev other than changing the angle of the right hand a few times. He's mainly jab, overhand right. It doesn't appear he has a left hook that can worry Thompson either.

This is a quick turnaround for Thompson though and he should come in the kind of condition he was in for Wlad 2. I think he was 10 to 15 pounds heavier in the Price fights. Pulev is far more mobile than Price so he'll need that movement.

All in all, I think this is an intriguing fight but feel Thompson is the favorite based on the above but feel this will be a good fight to watch :bbb

    Pulev by decision.

Tony Thompson - Tyson Fury would've been fun.

2 losses, 3 losses doesnt matter... thing is, IMO TT is underrated. Plus TT's confidence must be shy high right now

Well whatever way the fight goes I think it will be interesting while it lasts. Pulev has his own sets of weaknesses as does Thompson. Pulev has age on his side, he's not the hardest puncher but he has a good workrate and has age on his side. We'll see if Thompson can pull another rabbit out of the hat and get one step closer to his own cinderella man story.
