According to the Vasyl Lomachenko official website, he signed a contract with the Top Rank. The first fight will be on Oct., 12th in Las Vegas. The opponent has not been defined yet. In case of Lomas win, his second fight will be for a champion belt. Current official Lomachenko nickname is Most Wanted Source (in Russian): http://lomachenko.com/news/136-lomachenko-contrakt-s-top-rank
Not unexpected. TR strikes again. Soon they'll have more big-name amateur stars/novices than established pros. :think
'Most wanted' c'mon..makes him sound like he's in a boy band or a porn staratsch Can't we do another ESB poll. Maybe a suggestions thread then a voting one? How about: Vasyl '-raptor' Lomachenko (woulda been better as the Russian Vasili(raptor)) Vasyl 'vacate' Lomachenko Vasyl '-ene'
The talent in Top Rank's global stable is exceptional.... Their ability to develop that talent and maximize their careers? The jury's still out, but let's just say Top Rank still has work to do in that area themselves if the way they're handling Rigondeaux and Korobov is any indication. Also, I wonder if Top Rank has him exclusively, or if it's a co-promotion like it is with Murata....seems like the former thus far
oh ****! I'm just glad he's going legit pro and not wasting valuable time. What weigh class will he fight in?
According to this boxing thing I scene, it's looking like Featherweight, with his debut coming against Jose Ramirez (25-3, WBO #7).
Top Rank will probably not over rush which is good. But I feel like GBP is the future of the sport and has more fighters.
At the moment TR - HBO tends to dominate in the heavier classes, but acquisitions like Loma and Shafikov at the lower weights suggest they're playing a long game, the question is if the East-Euro signings gain the popularity without the traditional fan base. They could get the quality fights, but not get the bums in the seats, as it were.
Top Rank is doing well. Lomachenko, Valdez, Murata, Verdejo, Shiming -- they have all the olympians. Plus, they have signed many contenders this year including Vic Darchinyan, Alejandro Perez, Sean Monaghan, Denis Shafikov, Khabib Allakhvierdev. Good year for signings.. They have their future panned out.
Hope not, but we'll have to see. Apparently Todd (something French-y) will take over after Arum retires or croaks. We'll see.
I heard somewhere he might fight this guy on his debut http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=346120&cat=boxer
