Straight Up Been With Khan his last two fights- Khan is looking worst instead of better Trained Micheal Dallas Jr- He was knocked out cold my Lucas ( I know Lucas is a beast but the gameplan of Dallas And Hunter was Wrong!) Trained Berto- And His defense wasn't changed a bit Angulo- Still Same defense, lost his last fight I think he just got lucky with Andre Ward Disclaimer- This is my opinion so please don't **** on me....
LIke i said in another topic, fighters make the trainer, not the other way round. Trainers can never change fighters... unless they gets years and years and years... the only way to judge a trainer is seeing his fighter after years of development.. ward will come back, beat a few poeple, everyone will rave about virgil lol... great fighters don't have gameplans, they come in and figure there opponent out, trainers can't teach this ability.
well how mutch do you espect from just a couple of fights, hunter has trained ward since he was like 10 or somthing.
It's tough because he tries to teach these stupidass fighters (Khan, Angulo, Berto) how to fight smart and they just can't do it. It takes years to be able to train with Virgil and a fighter who's not a dumbass
Hunter is overrated & was flavour of the month, he's got a stable of good fighter that should be winning. Best trainer out there in my opinion is Floyd Sr, he's got a shitty attitude & talks too much 5hit but he backs that 5hit up.. Dawson was looking quality when trained by Floyd Sr & got him the title against Adamek De La Hoya looked like crap after he left Floyd Sr Even Joan "Fat F*ck" Guzman had some good wins in the brief time he was trained by Sr.
Virgil Hunter is a great trainer. These guys see the success he has had with Andre Ward and want to try to implement it to their game. This can not happen over night. This can not happen in one training camp. It takes years. Fighters already have their habits & are already set in their ways. All trainers have ups & downs in their careers because of this.
No one in the world could train Khan or Berto these guys make the same mistakes over and over its nothing to do with the trainer its just them They are the 2 worst examples to use they just both happened to go to him
I look at great fighters... ward for example... how long has he been with virgil??? since he was 9? floyds been with roger or his dad since a kid.. pacquiao with roach for what, maybe 10 years?.. even wlad with steward... he got ko'd.. hired steward, got ko'd 2 fights later.. a good few years later hes a well schooled fighter.. dont matter that steward aint in his corner anymore (RIP). But you know what i mean by years and years and years, i'm just emphasizing the point you don't change no fighter in a few months.. i mean some fighter just can't change, some do but its rare and takes a good amount of time and training.I mean i look at khan, hes gone to virgil, 2 fights, has looked no different.. yet he doesn't train inbetween fights.. according to virgil.. hes never going to change.
Bey got caught caught by a home-run after cruising the previous 9 rounds, he was winning easy.. Thats not the trainers fault, he was in shape & had the tactics/advice to win which was what he was doing. Hatton had an excellent win against Malignaggi with Floyd Sr, he just ran into a monster in Pac, no matter who trained Hatton for that fight he was gonna get brutalized.
Trainers can only do so much with a fighter that has terrible habits like Berto. Berto never tried to refine his craft at all before Hunter, so there's no reason to think that he would with Hunter. Berto just coasted by on talent and handpicked opposition and never tried or simply failed to improve his game during that time.
Bey was looking good for most of the fight. Floyd Sr. warned him over and over from like round 2 to keep his hands up. It's not Floyd Sr's fault if his fighter ignores him
I disagree .. Berto has a habit of not moving his head and taking punishment. I think everyone on his team has noticed this bad habbit, and it may be one reason they tried having him adopt the shoulder roll, after his loss to Ortiz, because of his lazy defense. You can hear Hunter begged and plead with berto to keep his hands up, but berto refuses, and then goes on to take unnecessary punishment to the point to where he has nothing left in the tank going down the stretch. Berto and Kahn are the same type of fighter , they are way too over confident in their offense . It will take a miracle to brake them of these habits.
