They fought when Williams was washed up. It was an exciting fight that ended in the 8th round when Morrison stopped Williams. Williams was ahead on points and had dropped Morrison twice. Williams went down twice as well.

Both at their best, who wins?

The Truth had some great skills and an ATG jab. Prime for prime , i think Williams would bust him up.

Holmes was never the same after he fought Williams .

The 80's HW era was loaded with talent.

Morisson was all roided up. Williams although a decent contender was no great fighter.

The Duke wasn't a great fighter either. Who would win?

Truth had excellent skills jab and boxing ability but poor chin.... Morrison had an excellent left hook and could be an effective hustler but if tagged or stunned and also had an easily riddled chin...Truth had the skills to outpoint Tommy but they both could be stopped...I am thinking truth had the better skills in the battle of the shaky chins

Morrison KO. Williams like Holmes had a phenomenal jab but could get overconfident and drop his left after shooting the jab leaving himself open to a counter. But a past it Williams gave Morrison all types of trouble. Tommy lands the hook after getting shutout for 5 rounds. Morrison KO 6.

i think that Morrison would wear down and eventually get stopped if Carl fought a disciplined fight and did not go for an early KO.. if he does this Tommy loses his strength and is TKO'd by the tenth...

    RIP

When you think of Williams, the first things that spring to mind would be great jab and glass jab. There's no denying the effectiveness of the jab but was his chin as bad as they say? Holmes was no devastating puncher but he still hit hard enough with the right hand to take out a lot of opponents so to go 15 rounds with a suspect jaw would have shown that maybe it wasn't that suspect afterall.

...pretty strange comparison. Williams was kicking Morrison's ass prior to the stoppage. Morrison had hurt Williams and dropped him... Williams had outboxed Morrison, hurt him, and dropped him twice. Morrison dropped Williams again and stopped him in the 8th. Washed up Williams, prime Morrison.

Foreman vs. Frazier '73? Foreman beat a prime Frazier badly... some say Frazier wasn't the same after the first Ali fight in '71 though. In the rematch Frazier fought a bit smarter and knew what to expect. Frazier was past prime and despite lasting longer, was never in the fight. Foreman wasn't quite the fighter he was in their first fight either.

    Pretty shltty comparison!

Williams at his best (Holmes fight '85) vs. a prime Morrison? IMO, Williams does better than he did in their actual fight... makes sense to me.

in the fight that they actually fought morrison stopped him, that´s all i need, williams never had great credentials, he was an
average fighter-tomato can in this range, frazier was past his prime in 1976 and he lasted longer with foreman , for sure he was better in 1973, based on your logic foreman should have stopped him faster in 1976. it is boxing, it is not 1+1, anything could happen , prime vs prime morrison by ko, he was better.
(by the way why are you answering your own thread trying to convince anyone of your own opinion? ....)

Considering that a Williams that was getting beaten regularly had tommy down twice and was ahead on the cards Id say the one that took holmes to the brink would have had him out of there.
