Zou Shiming's punching power, is there a way to increase it?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by iWantToLearnEng, Jul 28, 2013.

  1. Zou Shiming has great skills and heart and the amateur knowledge which gives him more ring intelligence than any professional fighters, who fight twice or once in a year against some bums.

Zou Shiming is one of the worst punchers since Ottke though. Enough power to knock out Andrzej Wawrzyk, sure, who hasn't?? But if he wants to rule this division he should increase his punching power.

Punchers are not born, but you can produce some. Which are the best methods?

It's not completely crazy to think so. People forget Hozumi Hasegawa was a pure feather duster who couldn't break and egg before he suddenly turned a corner and sparking guys like Nestor Rocha, Sahaprom, and Vusi Malinga, all in the first round or two.

Probably not, but maybe with more experience and improved technique he'll be able to get some stoppage. But again, just watching him fight and train he looks like he's in for a career full of long nights.

Probably the best he can aspire to be is a Paulie Ayala type, i.e. a smart, busy guy who wins bouts by throwing lots of shots and out witting guys. That said, its not out of the question that Zou will develop into the new Zuri Lawrence.

He's old and stuck in his amateur ways, and he will get knocked out by ghe first top 10 guy he faces.

    Yep pretty much.
What amazes me is that despite having hundreds of amateur fights, winning multiple tournaments an claiming successive gold medals, He still hasn't learnt a thing about how to set up power-punches with feints/bodyshots.

All I can say is well done AIBA. Your star pupil is a dunce..

Overrated. He better stick with fighting on that level. The moment he steps up in class he is done.

yes he can punch harder through changing his technique and really mindset. If you've gone 400 fights of just trying to score points and throw as much as possible, you're not gonna be fully committed to your punches or turn your fists over
