a defensive counterpuncher seems to be the style that is most effective.

rigos style with his insane footwork is godlike...

I was going to say Durans style, but a tall rangey fighter would always dismantle that way of fighting...

its more of the fighter then the style. i have seen the following styles destroyed by a different style all the time. athletic, slick, orthodox, traditional or clasic, euro, banger and brawlers and technical. you box the brawler but brawl with the boxer. so its more of the fighter then the style. best style to me is technical , slick , athletic boxer. mayweather and rigondeaux comes mind, some say to boring but that would be the perfect stlye to me.

There isn't. It's dependant both the physical attributes and the 'boxing brain' of the fighter (ring sense, aggression, mental fortitude, courage etc).

With training, these two intrinsic factors forge the style of that boxer. Different styles will work differently for different guys. The ideal is one where the style(s) in which they're training matches with their physical and mental attributes. The job of a good trainer should be just this - to maximise the effect of the fighters natural attributes.

This a good choice as well. I would throw Floyd, SRL (didnt see enough of SRR) and Hopkins in this as well, but liek another poster said, Pernell would be my first choice.

I would say the main style to be a boxer puncher, it gives you boxing to beat a brawler. And, enough punching to get the favoritism over a boxer in the close rounds, as at the very least they are typically the ones bringing the action in these situations. Where it would have to be changed is against a defensive counter puncher, ala Hopkins. The limited punch output and close range of a boxer puncher is right up the alley for a D counter puncher. You should go pure boxing or volume punching in attempt to get rounds from them.

Good boxer-punchers usually have great careers.
