As soon as Sergei steps in the ring on fight night technically he showed up. Stupid thread and super subjective with an obvious bias. In fact its a pretty ghey thread..
Lyakhovich is done for, otherwise Wilder would not fight him. Wilder refused to fight Thompson and for good reason, Thompson would knock Wilder out.........
This is exactly it. Wilder's management has to be 100 percent that Liakhovich isn't even at 10 percent of what he was - they only pick stiffs for a reason, and everybody knows what it is! :nod That said, if this washed up version of Sergei does catch Wilder on that fragile mandible, it's goodnight.:yep
He is only a shell of himself, nothing is left, nothing at all. However, I would not be surprised if he gets paid for losing......................Wilder is on shaky ground.
I agree that he is a shell of his former shelf, the Liakovich of the Brewster fight was a warrior and a great HW. but do you think Wilder would be able to do better against Helenius and Jennings? I think Wilder would be non-competitive against those guys, and he would get sparked out early. My biggest worry here is Liakovich being payed to take a dive or showing up in dreadful shape. IF he wants to win this fight I think he has a shot. But as you and others have pointed out Wilders management has been VERY careful in picking fights, it's possible that they may have underestimated Liakovich and how much he has left. that could prove to be a big mistake. we'll see.
Paid to dive, underestimated him, you've basically covered all angles and will have an answer for every outcome of the fight Im expecting it to be 'Liakovich took a dive' though
Lyakhovich used to have a very good left hook. If he can land that hook Wilder will feel it, even an over-the-hill Lyakhovich. Lyakhovich took a really bad beating when he was stopped by Helenius, really bad beating.
Yet again, this fight will tell us nothing about what Wilder really is made of. But his management is smart, no denying it.
Liakhovittzcsh best fight was vs Brewster and that was long time ago, If he brings 60% from that fight Wilder is dead meat but this "if" is very questionable ... I think he will bring around 40-50 to makes the fight entertaining.
