In his nightmares, Mike Tyson can still hear the crowd cheering "Oaks! Oaks! Oaks!"

    Rocky "The rock" Marciano.

He simply walked through his opponents, trying to land bomb after bomb.
Of course, his opponents were just '50s levels, but he is the one that simply dominated more.
He actually still detects the higher ko percentage of the heavyweight division, and he is the only one heavyweight fighter that retired unbeaten.

I always thought he died in a plane crash before anyone could beat him, but later found out he retired after only a 7 year boxing career. The typical length of a boxing great is usually around 15 years, so his undefeated record doesn't sound very impressive.

More power to him, he got out at the right time, if only the likes of Evander Holyfield and James Toney would have follow suit.

Rocky was like Pac, both had a style that simply is not going to last for a long career.

Plus, remember in the beginning, Rocky was fighting as cannon fodder, he was served up to far more skilled fighters, but he still won.

He'd also taken a large amount of punishment, especially in training, which took months.

Plus, if you think about it, there is ALWAYS some up and coming fighter, at some point, you need to retire, and there will be someone claiming you did so to avoid fighting them. That's always going to be the case.

when a fighter turns down huge money (more than they ever have made)
to retire.it makes anyone question there courage after all.it's easy to be brave when theres little or no fear.

    Tyson/Lewis/Louis

Lennox fought at the much higher level though. so i'd say he's the more impressive.

Wlad fights complete bums though. and he doesn't stop them until late in the fight.

and when he does eventually stop them, there is nothing impressive about it. looks ugly as ****.

    Joe Louis

    KO'd almost everybody
    Made 25 defenses

Rocky Marciano, Mike Tyson, Jack Johnson, Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Lennox Lewis in approximately that order I guess...
