:think Chambers just got completely schooled. Ward mopped the floor with Dawson. Escobedo got flattened by Broner and lost his next fight by TKO(both his first T/KO losses).
:good Shane always looked pathetic at 154..but was sharper at 147. Golovkin could be a monster at 154 if they wanted to send him there.
:good :think At 168 he managed to win the WBA strap a few times but at 160 he got knocked out by Garth Wood (He did avenge that loss but still). I wonder if there were/are any guys who became champs after moving down in weight :think
Too bad that he lost it in his next outing. And it was a vacant belt to wich he had no real claim. He got lucky there. But still, he managed to get a title shot and he actually won it. It still counts for something.
I highly doubt that he can make the weight. They talked about going to 140 right after the Abregu loss, if i am not mistaken, he has yet to make it. Hes already a tall kid and he will probably outgrow 147 one day.
The question was "had success", he certainly "had success" even if it didn't match his alphabet title reign at 168. I imagine plenty of females have gone down in well and taken titles with out too many problems (anyone at "Atomweight" for example). In the lower weights plenty of fighters go up and down, going up for a stay busy fight, Roman Gonzalez and Moises Fuentes are 2 great examples. Do they count?
Id say so. Both started at a higher weight and then moved down to win a belt. I just remembered that Donaire moved down in weight for his win over "Vic The Dick". And according to BoxRec, Donaire had never fought at 112 before.
i could've told anyone chambers would look bad going downi.remember chris byrd looked his absolute worst trying to go to cw in his 30's.
