Holmes was a great fighter. Consider, however, that he also never unified and vacated the WBC belt (avoiding #1 contender Greg Page) to fight Marvis Frazier.

And I'm supposed to hold Wlad not fighting his brother against him in his title reign?

Do people actually remember Wlad/Byrd 2? Byrd was shot to absolute **** in that fight and did nothing more than stand in the middle of the ring waiting to be knocked out so he could go home.

I got nothing against Byrd , he's a nice guy but as a fighter hw was useless.

Well done for Wlad. A most worthy champion in every sense of the word.

so which of the beltholders at the time was better than Byrd? Valuev? Rahman? Liahkhovic?

btw, a "useless" fighter, as you described Byrd, would not have beaten Holyfield, Tua or McCline, regardless of whether they were in their best or not

The belt holders at the time were Maskerv, Valuev and Briggs. The division was a joke. Beating a shot Byrd who lost to a way past it Golota two years prior isn't impressive is the slightest and is nothing to brag aboot. Thats not the work of a great champion to me.

Old, battle worn, middleweight James Toney beat Holyfield into submission.

Briggs. Manny wanted Wlad nowhere near him.

Briggs did not hold the WBO belt at the time Wlad fought Byrd, he won it off Liakhovic later on

After Wlad beat Byrd he was expected to unify but he never did and fought nobodys like Ray Austin instead. Manny didn't want him to fight Briggs.

Sorry , but Carl Williams alone was better than anybody Wlad ever beat. ATGs like Holmes and Tyson were soo good they made very decent, durable fighters like bad.

The rule was only instated a couple of years ago.

Well can't the same thing be said for Wladimir and Vitali.
David haye, Povetkin( most likely), Peter, Chambers, Chagaev, Ibragimov, Thompson and Brewster are some Bums that are easy to dominate.

So give these boxers some respect since they will be remeberd as one of the greats.

Apart from Povetkin none of those guys are really impressive. Iggy was somewhat decent but he just turned up to collect his retirement check and didn't care about winning.

further proof how the WBC enforces the rules only on certain fighters. They are disgraceful and shameful
