The guy has had his career handed to him on a plate. What other young fighter gets a title shot two fights after being brutally KO'd? He fought a **** champion too in Kotelnik. They even threw him an old, shot Barrera jumping two weight classes to pad his record, disgraceful stuff. The guy has made bucket loads of money in the sport yet he only has two good wins on his record in Maidana and Judah. And that's all they are, good wins, far from spectacular. Despite this, and despite haveing lost three times, two of which were brutal KO's the chap still thinks he deserves a fight with Mayweather? It's beyond delusional and frankly quite embarassing. He's got some good attributes but a glass chin yet he's stupid enough to ignore great trainers advice and goes in for a war that usually ends in disaster. I don't dislike him for being stupid enough to do this but I don't like the fact he continually ignores the advice of his trainers, it's disrespectful really. An then there's his personality, despite trying so hard to be the nice guy his true colours have continually come to the fore. The post fight press conference after the McCloskey fight is the first thing that springs to mind. His shouting over McCloskey saying ''Let the champ speak'' was arrogance that showed him up for what he is. Now I don't mind arrogance from boxers but don't try to be the nice guy one minute and then be a dickhead the next. Then there's the disrespect of his opponents that have beaten him, I've never heard him say one good thing about Prescott, Peterson or Garcia who were all heavy underdogs going into the fights. Two of them were sensational knockout wins and one a great peformance to pull out points win but Khan just says ''I made a mistake blah blah blah'' and doesn't give his conquerers the credit they deserve. He also looks beyond every opponent he faces and talks about Mayweather constantly, that's very disrespectful. He even said ''when I beat Alexander I'll fight Mayweather'' recently, he just can't help himself. So there ya go, in my opinion he's not just a hype job with a padded record he's also a **** that doesn't deserve half the money he's earned in the sport. Someone mentioned he does charity work as a reference for being a nice guy? Fair play to him for doing so but I'd like to think the vast majority of people who were multi millionares would do a bit of bloody charity work.
I agree. It's so obvious that he has been overhyped, given all the media attention he doesn't deserve (and still gets it!) and been massively protected throughout his career. Even with his padded record two of his victories are tainted (Barrera and McCloskey which were both stopped due to clashes of heads early on. They should have been given a rematch since it was like round 5 or 6 when stopped. Plenty of time for them to shatter Khant's glass jaw). Then there is the Willie Limmond fight which was disgraceful that Khan was effectively given an 11 count to make sure the new "hope of boxing" didn't lose. He's been cherry picked opponents constantly and his best two victories aren't that great. A vastly overated Maidana and a shot Judah. Edit: Diaz beat him too. I had Diaz winning that fight by 2 rounds.
He also failed to rematch Prescott, Peterson and Garcia which I thought was the thing to do if you just made a 'simple mistake'. in the fight. He says he'd win these rematches but never ****ing went for them, it's embarassing. The free passes this guy has gotten in the sport is shocking but I'm calling the **** up on it today!
Respect KHAN for getting in there and giving it a fair dig. Anyone that steps in that ring GETS mad props. Haters gonna hate!
I do respect him for getting in the ring but that doesn't mean I can't tell the ****ing difference between right and wrong. I'm not hating, I've listed several genuine good reasons why I dislike the guy.
I lost what little respect I had for Khant after his near temper-tantrum after his defeat to Peterson. He came across as such a spoilt, whiny little brat.
any one remember what he said after the mccloskey fight his own words i aint ever dealing with the hearns again crying this and that. now does any one care to have a look at what the c u n t as been banging on a bout on his twatter, two faced double standard c u n t
He has had it very easy to say the very least, very few fighters have been given so much for achieving so little. In terms of athleticism he is one of the most gifted British fighters ever, his hand and foot speed is incredible and he has been given so much hype and a hand up for winning silver at the Olympics. Many other fighters have gotten medals at Olympics but not gold but received nowhere near the money or hype for not winning gold. Fighters like Mercer, Golota, Woodhall all won Olympic medals yet never received the hype or money early on in their careers like Khan has. Yet from the very beginning he made mistake after mistake. When you are the most talented amateur of a nation with high expectations and people queuing up to work with you, what do you do? Any intelligent person would go to the states and get the best possible training and sparring yet he hired a unknown trainer. He has had everything gifted to him on a plate, natural talent, media exposure, money etc. Yet he has done so little win it. Compare him to Froch, nowhere hear as talented, won bronze at the world amateur championships yet for so long he has struggled to get where he is today and now is much more respected than Khan despite going the hard route to success. Hard to like a fighter who is gifted everything, takes it for granted, and makes mistake after mistake and doesn't seem to learn from his defeats. I had high hopes for Khan early on but it's clear he has reached his level and will never fulfill his full potential.
He is arrogant He has a glass jaw He has been carefully guided (Hey I thought that was the job of a manager / promoter) but some of the crap that gets written about him on here is way over the top
I agree with many of your points from a personality point of view, he does annoy me with the pretence he thinks he's the cash cow, the fact he overlooks fighters, talks with an arrogance not befitting of his achievements. However, what I respect about him is his willingness to fight abroad, his willingness to fight the best, his willingness to fight heavy punchers even though he has one of the worst chins in the game. For all Khans faults he has got a big pair of balls and he won't duck anyone unlike the majority of todays fighters and doesn't quit in adversity. You're also wrong to **** on the Kotelnik win and he has every right to be ****ed off about Peterson, Peterson is a proven drugs cheat, an absolute disgrace to the sport of boxing and should be banned for life after the Khan fight. That Peterson fight, the Maidana fight, and the Garcia fight have rendered Khan completely shot now as a fighter imo, Khans last performance was a disgrace, he doesn't seem able to win a fight anymore without having to survive a crisis. Khan wont ever win a meaningful fight again imo.
Think whatever you want about him as a person-he's a walking cucumber. But Kotelnik is FAR from **** anything (did you see Kotelnik/Maidana, Maidana being considered a good win by you?, or Kotelnik/Alexander?) and he for certain has been taking on an excellent line up of solid competition for years now. That much should be obvious and I think your bias is colouring your judgment on that tremendously. He's also put on performances against Judah and Kotelnik that simply blow away that of everyone else off the top of my head. He can be quite a fighter when the style suits him well, against some very good guys.
He hasn't had it handed to him on a plate because he did win an Olympic silver medal and he does make for exciting fights but I have often rooted against him because he has an army of Asain fans who never got behind Ricky Hatton but call you a racist if you don't support Khan. I also got really pissed off with all of this talk of him being the p4p number 1 in waiting etc. the hype he recieved was ridiculous.
i agree with everything OP said except this part...Because we're all human & nobody is nice every single minute of there Life. Esp when your famous & live in the public eye 24/7. +1 (almost) yes...lol..some of the JEALOUSY & RACISM is so obvious lol
