Nathan Cleverly looking to break kovalev bit by bit

I think the sparring with Jones was in preparation for Kovalev's fight with Campillo.

 

id still like to know why war+en took this fight...

either cleverly was turning screws for a big fight (we know hes been pushing and he legitimately does want to crack the international scene it seems), or war+en's palm got greased by team kovalev

first one makes more sense unless its a hell of a grease...

 

I give Cleverly a lot of credit for taking this fight. Kovalev is an animal, that most LHW's want no part of.

 

Clev's jab is going to twist Kovalev's world apart.

Krusher has a dream to come to Wales and beat the boy from the valley's but unfortunately Nath is a dream braker.

 

Which fight did he actually stay outside and jab for 12 rnds ? :think

Kovalev is not just the stronger guy but he has better defense too. Cleverly needs to be at his very best or he will be destroyed.

 

I've a lot of respect for Cleverly for taking this fight and he's talking a good talk so fair play to him for doing so.

However, Cleverly is feather fisted and wont be able to Keep Kovalev off him. He mentions he has a good chin which is true but that might just make this a long punishing night for Clev until the ref comes in and stops it.

He has the chin and workrate to do well but he lacks the power and I think you need good power to keep a guy like Kovalev off you. I don't really give Clev a chance but he's a gamey young confident fighter so who knows?

 

Man, kovalev was pushing felino back with those straights. His
boxing is very underrated. Not just a puncher this guy.

 

Now there is someone who legitimately clawed his way successfully up through several weight divisions (unlike Cleverly). :deal

Three years at welter, picking up various minor belts - two world title bouts at light middleweight, pit stops at super middle, light heavy, and heavyweight - and then a successful CW reign 15 years into his career.

i like it when ppl refer to Byrd as a SMW when he NEVER had a single fight at that limit
