Another Brit I always thought did a decent job: Sid Nathan.

Mercante sr. He had a specific method of scoring each round that I've adhered too every since reading it many years ago. He broke each round into one minute segments and scored each as such. It was by his method that I gave Ali the last round against Norton in their third go.

He collapsed before the conclusion of Maxim-Robinson. He allowed Ingo-Patterson I to go on far too long, when he should have stopped it as soon as Floyd got up from the first knockdown and was walking away with his hands down [just as Lou Magnolia correctly stopped Sharkey-Loughran I 30 years earlier when Tommy walked away after getting up and turned his back]. He has Griffith-Paret III saddling his resume as a third man, when he froze at the critical moment when ringsiders were frantically screaming, "STOP THE FIGHT!" [Columnist Bob Waters was among them. After the Scypion-Classen tragedy, he penned the article, "17 Years Between Shouts."] Goldstein may have been a prolific referee, but one with three very bad high profile failures.

Jay Nady....I forgot about him. He was i-ight. I always felt bad for him when he stopped the Judah-Tszyu fight and how Judah kinda went after him. He looked like a guy who wanted to be somewhere else.

How was Dempsey as a ref? Anybody know? Someone Goldstein. Was he the ref for all those Joe Louis fights?

Who was the guy that called the fight a dq when someone from the corner was late exiting the corner after the round, or early coming into the corner be fore the round ended? Forget the fight, happened in the last 2 years or so. that was just ridiculous.
I picked Cotton because of the Bowe Golota 2 fight, yeah it should have been stopped, but he gave Bowe a shot.

Not so. Mills Lane was in fact signaling an end to the fight when he told Nevada commissioner Marc Ratner "he's disqualified, he bit his ear, he's out...I can see the bite-mark." Ratner, then had Lane consult the ringside physician, Dr. Flip Homansky who overruled Lane when he said that Evander was ok to continue. Lane then allowed the fight to continue but not before taking 2 points off from Tyson.

Jersey Joe Walcott did a great job with the Liston-Ali II fight.

Rather than DQ Ali, which he should have done, he awarded him a KO that never happened.

I dont know if Dempsey was a good ref but he made a lot of money doing it. He supposedly blew the call for the Baer Heeney bout and totally robbed Ezzard Charles against Rex Layne in Utah with a ridiculous card of 2 rds for Layne, 1 for Charles, and 7 even.
