I guess we all have to go out on a limb here, because I don't think anyone knows what would happen. My guess though, is that if Adamek was able to be outboxed by a one-armed Eddie Chambers, and wobbled by a Rangefinder Jab of Vitali, he could certainly find himself in serious trouble in the first round alone. I hate to seem like I'm falling for the hype, but I don't see Adamek surviving past the 3rd round. Thoughts?
This is actually a really interesting fight. With how Adamek's been looking lately, it's a winnable fight for Wilder and a solid, but not unreasonable, test. Adamek's rated higher than his H2H ability warrants so it may be the right fight for Wilder to aim for to really build his name up. I'm a big fan of Adamek, but I think he's getting to the end of his career.
You should really watch boxing more and believe board hypes less. Did you ever watch these fights? Adamek and Wilder sparred together. Adamek said that it was Deontey that should pay him for lessons.
"Adamek said"??? And yes, I pay attention to the fights. Which is why I know that Adamek's been on the receiving end of one gracious decision after another. Have you actually paid attention to how he was outboxed by a one-armed Chambers?
It's not the being outboxed vs Chambers that would concern me as it relates to a Wilder fight so much as how the size and power of Michael Grant nearly caught up to him. I can't blame a guy who started as a LHW to not match up well with big heavyweights, but it is what it is. Wilder's unproven, but he is big, powerful, and has good speed on that right hand. Adamek's older now and his punch resistance has to have declined.
Beyond that, he's not very difficult to hit clean, especially, I would imagine, for someone with Wilder's size advantages.
That'd be a great matchup. Would love to see this. Adamek has a horrible defense, then again so has Wilder. If Adamek could weather the first couple rounds it could become interesting. Otherwise, I'd go with TKO 3-5 for Wilder here.
Adamek is nowhere near what he was and what he was was at a lower weight anyhow. He's too stationary, gets hit to cleanly and can't get off anymore. I've been a big fan but he's looked very faded lately. Wilder lands something big and stops him...which still wouldn't tell us anything about him.
