No way in hell are they gonna put boytsov in with wladimir for december 14.
The obvious choice for wladmir would be the winner of arreola vs mitchell
or even dereck chisora who wouldnt hesitate one minute to sign
the fight! They both dont like each other

I highly doubt he's fighting a third time this year, and think he's actually pissed that he's not. Thats because he lost the purse bid, the fight date was pushed back so far, making his 3rd defense this yr unrealistic. But if he does do it, no way its gonna be the Pulev/ Thompson winner.

 

If that's true, he'll put himself on the shortlist for Fighter of the Year. He won't win it, but going through the motions with Pinata will be more than offset by unifying against Povetkin and beating another top rated contender.

 

It really doesn't leave him or his team any time to rest, and recover from the Povtekin Oct.4th fight. Especially when you have to negotiate the contract, find a stadium, do promotions, and then train. Only way this is even remotely plausible , is if he destroys Povetkin in the 1st rd.

 

He won't win it, think that's most likely to go to GGG if he fights 2 more times this yr, something he has said he desperately wants to do. And you'd have to throw the winner of May/Can in the mix, along with maybe Matthysse

 

Could be just mindgames towards team Povetkin.

I was actually thinking the same. If he plans to fight so soon after the Povetkin bout, maybe he would try to finish Povetkin asap.

On a side note I normally have no problems discussing Wlad's next fight(s) but I genuinely think this fight with Povetkin will be difficult, to the point of making such a quick turn around impossible. Unfortunately, regardless of how Wlad comes out against Povetkin it does not look like he will be fighting back in the U.S. anytime soon.

 

Well, he's gotta beat Povetkin.. which he should be able to do easily if he fights smart.

..but the problem would have nothing to do with being in shape.. Wlad is ALWAYS in shape, and as far as training.. that ****'s overrated.. you don't need 6 weeks to learn how to fight a certain style.. Wlad is 37 and 63 fights under his belt.

The problem is promotion.. would they have time to promote a big fight. If he does beat Povetkin.. I think he takes a soft touch to fulfill the commitment and doesn't give a **** about making a huge money fight.

Anyhow.. Wlad's getting old... he probably only has 3 or 4 fights left tops.

 

He's not showing any signs..

And he has a big brother, who is also a boxer and keeps fighting at 40 something.
