Duva says that the offer wasn't turned down. Sorry to rain on the "Most Feared Man In The History Of Boxing" parade.
Curtis tweeted that he wasn't going to accept the first offer. Could be his way of saving face and hoping K2 won't make another offer, but if you're K2 or HBO, it might be in your best interest to kick in another 100k or so. I think the reason Macklin accepted the 300k to fight GGG was that 1) HBO would freeze him out of future fights if he declined 2) HBO guaranteed him some future fights for accepting (that said I think Macklin's coming back for a December undercard on Bute-Pascal vs Lemieux). Options for Golovkin in November aren't that great and Stevens brings in some hype worth paying for because it'll only add to GGG's momentum should he destroy Stevens like most think he will (Stephen Edwards thought Golovkin could win this fight with just his jab). Main Events probably smells 500k sitting on the table and they want it. I honestly think it might be worth it. With Curtis' mouth, he could promote the hell out of that fight in the NY area. I'd consider the additional money as a marketing investment on behalf of K2/HBO.
HBO will probably reject Stevens as an opponent for GG and accept Sergio Mora or somebody else that won't be a threat to their new foreign hero.:deal 7 years as a pro and his biggest win is Macklin. U gotta' be really desperate to jockride a fighter with such meager accomplishments.
Says the guy that spends his life on ESB sniffing Broners nutsack Both guys have potential to be great, both still need to prove their worth at the top level. No difference
maybe geale? sturm, Sylvester and mundine alone easily tops any 3 GGG has faced problem with geale is he needs the US exposure that GGG is getting
Both guys aren't 31 years old. You gotta' get off GG's di.ck before you can say anything about Broner..or anybody else with better wins than Mathew Macklin. Broner moved up a division and beat a champion named DeMarco his first fight out... Let's see GG move to 168 and KO a Champ his first time out then beat then 175lb Champ. That is what Broner just did. What was GG doing when he was Broner's age?...selling gypsy tears on the roadside:rofl
or he could just go in and kick his ass for 300 grand and get double that for a rematch. history proves all too often that type of logic normally ends up flawed with one guy losing to someone else or just looking extremely bad in their next fight and then it just ends up not happening
easily? Proksa TKO 3 Sylvester destroying Macklin is a better win than close decision on Sturm Rosado vs Mundine would be a close fight
the point is that geale was willing to go to Germany and fight both Sylvester and sturm sturm is a career 'get rich, stay at home paper champion', but he is still a decent fighter how someone wins a fight (by KO or close decision) is immaterial but on no planet is GGG beating macklin a better win than geale beating sturm in germany
Destroying Macklin would be kind of impressive if Golovkin were 21 instead of 31. Arthur Abraham and Kelley Pavlik did tons more at 160 than GG.:deal
No he was winning world championship and Olympic medals, while Adrien was steeling granny's handbags in the ghetto. What a shitty statement to make,do your homework son,Adrien Broner is a manufactured champion who's best win is a split nod of over a weak champion who couldn't punch.Golovkins hype is real just ask Matt Macklin who had his ribs broken by the guy.
its still only hype Michael grant and prince naseem were also world beaters on their way to greatness
