    The Sonny of 67, probably.

But the Sonny of both Patterson fights, and even the one who fought Clay, would on my opinion , make short work of Joe.

    sonny by stoppage.
Frazier would slip the big jab of Liston, and then get nailed by an uppercut and followed up by powerful hooks and right hands.
fraziers arsenal is not enough for Liston, who was actually a decent defensive fighter.
Ali is not a defensive fighter by no means. once someone is on top of him and punching him, he puts his guard up or holds.
liston coils move and dodge these shots a bit.
I give Liston the TKO victory over Joe.

Liston was well over-the-hill by '67 but I guess he's still a dangerous style for Frazier, and still had some meat on his punches.
Still, I'd lean towards Frazier, the fitter, younger, hungrier, quicker man.

Prime-for-prime, I'm backing Liston all day every day. But '67 Liston I dont put much faith in.

Geese, its hard not to think Joe would have caught Sonny with several hooks as big as the one Leotis hung on him in this time frame. Maybe Sonny did have the flu during the Martin bout but he fought well and was abit ahead, it looks like he just got caught and would have been out in any case. I don't think Sonny had enough hammer left in his punches to stop Joe for very long in '67. The Sonny of the early sixties may have done a job on Joe in the early rounds though, at least enough to win the decision clear if not stop him on route.

this would be a smash up. botom line is If liston lands first frazier still gets up. liston wasnt really much heavier than frazier and 200lb guys usualy did well against him. that left hook of joes would find a home under listons jab. you could make an impresion on frazier and not stem any of his fire. im convinced frazier would make an impresion on sonny and that would take more out of liston.

Sonny via early stoppage. Too big a puncher and Joe wasn't a quick starter. Just a poor matchup of styles for Joe.

frazier would stop liston under any distance, prime vs prime frazier was as heavy as liston, frazier weighed 210 pounds against bob foster(peak shape) and liston weighed 208-212 in his prime, using george foreman in favour of liston is just laughable... foreman was another animal... bigger, stronger, tougher and harder puncher than liston, plus foreman had another style, more savage and he did push frazier back, it is why frazier could not work the body. with liston it would have been a different fight, liston would use more skill and the jab, frazier would avoid the jab with his move of head, liston could drop frazier early but he would get up and frazier would stop liston late. here we are talking about a bull, not a fragile lhw like patterson.

As one of the biggest Frazier phans in the history of Philadelphia boxing, I have always thought/felt that Liston along with Foreman are the two worst stylistic match-ups for Frazier....They remain the only two guys I would hesitate to pick Frazier over.

Remember the Leotis Martin fight was a couple of years later but in `67 I think Sonny still had something left. He wanted to get back in the heavyweight mix. He mightve had one more good fight left in him had he been given another chance.

In a way he didnt really deserve it with the way he disgraced the title. Just my opinion.

I believe Liston couldve KOd Frazier or at least had a good shot at it in `67. He still had the big jab. The kind of jab that if a fighter walks into it they are stopped in their tracks and even shook down to their heels. Frazier could slip some but he would catch some as well. Not a good thing against a man with the arsenal of Sonny.

Why in '67? Frazier crushes Liston in '67. Prime vs. Prime? Frazier still crushes him but it takes longer.

Frazier was a World Champion from 1968-1973. He went 32-4-1 (27) overall and 10-2 (8 KO) in HW World Title fights. He was only beat by Ali and Foreman. He dropped Ali and beat him by 15 round decision in their first fight. Frazier gave Ali a lot of trouble in their 3rd fight but the fight was stopped after 14 rounds because Frazier could barely see... Ali was thinking about quitting. Foreman stopped Frazier twice. Frazier also beat Oscar Bonavena W10 and W15, Eddie Machen KO10, Doug Jones KO6, George Chuvalo KO4, Buster Mathis KO11, Jerry Quarry KO7 and KO5, Jimmy Ellis KO7 and KO5, Buster Mathis KO11, Bob Foster KO2, and Joe Bugner W12.

Liston stopped Cleveland Williams x2, Zora Folley, and Floyd Patterson x2. He also won a decision vs. Eddie Machen. He was stopped by Ali x2 and Leotis Martin. He also lost a decision to Marty Marshall... who he went 2-1 (1) vs. lifetime.

hahaha one thing is saying that prime vs prime liston would have his chance(i pick frazier prime vs prime anyway), but saying that a 67 liston would have any chance against 67 frazier is just trolling 100%, it is like saying that 81ali(berbick) would beat a 86 mike tyson...

Frazier in his prime was 204 pounds. Regardless, prime Liston beats any version of Frazier at any weight by savage KO.

prime frazier was not 204 pounds, you are using the lowest weight that you could find, pathetic, frazier weighed 210 pounds in the bob foster fight, prime frazier , peak frazier ellis, foster ali, weighed 205-210, and he did carry 217 pounds when he destroyed stander at 28. your comment is trash without any point.
