Wlads only chance is if the fight is in Germany and his hand picked ref allows him to cheat and bear hug Evander for 12 rounds and get gifted the decision, but even then I can still see Holy eventually getting through and scoring a KO.
Holyfield breaks thru Wlads clinch. Sanders easily out muscled Wlad. It only works on all the small weak guys he's made a career of beating. When Holyfiels breaks thru , Wlad is nothing but a defenceless , sitting duck, against one of the best inside fighters and combinations punchers of all time. Wlad gets hammered down every time inside. Evander was too good to be kept on the outside. It would look like the end of the Brewster fight after 3-4 rounds.
The punch used by Lewis and Bowe to slow down Holy closing the distance was the uppercut. Unfortunately for Wlad he aint got an uppercut.
Wlad isn't taking the shots Lewis did from Holyfield in their second fight.Either way.Holyfield is far too rough and too good a boxer for a guy with a passive style like Wlad.Late rounds TKO
Wlad by TKO. Wlad can definitely withstand Holy's onslaught. Holy isn't as much of a power puncher as some are making him out to be. People forget he was a LHW when he started; that alone will give him a significant disadvantage against a guy that is nearly 6'7 and 245 lbs. Wlad can easily maneuver Holy around and tire Holy out with his constant leaning and applying his weight on Holy in the clinches. Additionally, people are seriously overlooking Wlad's abilities - speed (foot/punch), technique, defense, intelligence, coaching, etc. If Wlad can take punches from Peter, Wach, McCline, Mercer, Vitali, etc...he can take them against Holy.
Interesting matchup stylistically. I don't think Wlad can keep his distance from Evander, he'll pop off his jab all night long but eventually Holyfield will make his way inside, turn it into a phonebooth brawl and potentially stop him in the latter rounds. Prime Holyfield was a helluva fighter with fantastic combinations, a great chin and a heart of a lion. He's a tough matchup at HW with just about everyone.
Wlad, by close decision. Great, and pretty even fight, though. He is better on the outside, and much stronger. Evander would do a great fight, but would get hit by a lot of long jabs.
