These two guys were fighting the fight they were supposed to be..both landing heavy shots hurting eachother in just about every round. Pryor took some enormous shots (pretty sure he proved his chin on that night)..But he kept comin back trying to smother Arguello...Brilliant..On both parts..

Aaron Pryor was a freak of nature, one thing said of him that resonates with me is that he would be competitive with anyone he fought, his style was just a mess to deal with. And going into what was without a doubt the biggest fight he had ever had, I'm certain that he was in supreme shape which only exaggerated his freak of nature abilities.

He was a freak of nature, and was always in great shape, but to beat Arguello that bad is a sight to see..:good

I'd say he only beat him bad in that fight stopping flurry, other than that, the fight was competitive with heavy damage going both ways. Sure Alexis lost, but he deserves a ton of credit too for lasting even that long, that fight was a true war among many fights where the term "war" is thrown around freely.

Whether you believe in the black bottle conspiracy or not, that substance is not going to give you a strong chin and unstoppable will, both which Aaron showcased

Aaron Pryor had a chip on his shoulder and he was at the peak of his career. Pryor was really just a Lightweight but he was avoided by the 135lb title holders

I believe part of taking a punch is mental. Aaron didnt believe anyone could stop him. I once saw him get knocked down get up and chase the man who put him down around the ring.

One of the best fights ever !

A strong contender for Fight of the Decade for the eighties. Along with the first Leonard-Duran bout and Hagler-Hearns.

I can't help but think that pryor was on drugs. His style of fight is just consistent with all the dopers. He can throw endless punches at a high pace, almost unreal, and common amongst what we see in modern cuban doppers who seem to fall over and can't take punches easily.

I can't prove pryor was on drugs, but the whole secret special bottle and lost drug test. I just can't in hindsight accept he wasn't doping.

His ability to get up extremely quick from lots of knockdowns is consistent with modern cuban dopers

in the resto-collins documentary, assault in the ring, resto admits that panama lewis put asthma medication in the black bottle to open up pryor's airway quickly. i have no problem believing this story. anytime panama lewis is involved, you can expect cheating.

Pernell Whitaker was on drugs. He fought nothing like Pryor. Henry Armstrong and Harry Greb fought in a non-stop punching style they weren't on drugs that we know of.

Pryor was just an all-time great.

Pryor cheated and them's the facts.. No way around it. He's still a solid fighter no doubt and might've won anyways.. but he did cheat that night.
