ESPN2 FNF: Andrzej Fonfara vs. Gabriel Campillo & Artur Szpilka vs. Mike Mollo II RBR

Round 2

Szpilka is showing the high right jab, faking Mollo out with it and then diving in with straight lefts to the body. Szpilka backpedals and dances to his left. Mollo runs in and bashes through Szpilka's guard with a right hand, then hooks the body as Szpilka leaps back. Body shots by Mollo. Left hand lead by Szpilka departing the pocket with a push up on his toes. Mollo wedges a left hook into Szpilka's neck from outside. Szpilka moves forward to tie up as Mollo chops him with some wild power shots. Szpilka thinks better of it and pushes out with both arms instead. BIG COMBO by Mollo, a thudding battering-ram right hand to the chest followed by a massive left hook to the head charging forward. Szpilka is able to move away from the punches and take some edge off but is still a bit stunned. NICE double left hand by Szpilka, hurting Mollo just before the bell.

Yeah but still lost it clearly. A few nice moments but his aggression was largely ineffective.

 

He is pretty tough, at least mentally - and the knockdowns or shake-ups (and it hasn't just been in Mollo I) have been more about shitty defense than a truly glass jaw, in all honesty.

 

Round 3

Szpilka is circling to his left, carefully up on his toes. Mollo rushes with a two-piece and clips Szpilka on the ropes, rushing in as he thinks Szpilka is hurt. Szpilka turns him and whips in some left hands. Mollo is buzzed. Szpilka moves in and swarms Mollo - and gets DROPPED by an uppercut. Szpilka is up but dazed. He cautiously moves in either direction with his palm stretched out to intercept punches. Szpilka maneuvers in close and clinches. Szpilka doesn't quite have full use of his legs back, a bit twiggy. Mollo rushes in with an overhand and gets countered with a hooking combo. Szpilka ties up. Chopping left between the eyes by Szpilka as Mollo falls in on him. Mollo flicks jabs coming forward, then lands some rabbit punches as they press together. Szpilka down, slip/push.
