I've never got why people say that. A few months before fighting Froch he utterly DESTROYED Brian Magee who, even though he is getting on in years, is still a very good boxer and in the top 20 of the division. Likewise in the Froch fight, during the middle rounds Kessler looked as good as ever. I just don't see the argument that he's "shot". Perhaps he's not as good as he was when he fought Calzaghe... but that doesn't mean he's shot. He's still in the top 5 of the super-middleweight division. Shot is like Khan where you struggle to beat mediocre opposition like Diaz.
Id still pick Kessler to beat any other super middle weight bar Ward and Froch. To call him shot is ludicrous,no shame in losing Froch or Ward at all.
Kessler had to travel to SOB Ward's home town and fight him with Ward's personal referee and judges. Ward headbutted all night, used his elbows, low blows you name it, but Ward's ref was there to help him. Ward won by intentional illegal headbutt that came from across the ring. Ward should have been disqualified and Kessler should have known better than fight Ward in his home town. Ward was the ONLY boxer who did not have to travel..............
What's with you and personal referee's and judges. Stfu repeating yourself and say something constructive, your like a broken ****ing record.
Kessler is far from shot, its outrageous people keep saying this. He is #3 at 168 lb, but is relatively close to Froch's current divisional standing. Would love to go and see him fight in Denmark, hope he continues. Proper star and gentleman.
People called him shot AFTER the Ward fight because they thought Kessler was going to easily KO the green American kid and so needed an excuse as to why they got it so wrong. Most of these people also tend to be Sun reading Calzaghe fan boy types who were desperate for Kessler to win the Super 6 because this would reflect well on Calzaghe's otherwise paper thin resume.
Strange as Calzaghe doesnt need Kessler to do anymore, it was a very, very good win at the time and Kessler never looked quite the same after it. Though to say he was shot would be wrong and he wasnt against Ward but he certainly has declined faster since the Super 6
it'd still take Kessler to beat most, he gave Froch a good fight last time out and hit him with some good shots that would of taken most down, plus his younger than Froch..
when kessler is getting bashed up by Groves in sparring you know that hes shot, the Kessler of 2007 would of destroyed Froch.
Ward did not beat Kessler because of headbutts and the referee. They may have had an effect but Ward was altogether too fresh, smart and always a step ahead.
