Kovalev wasn't who I thought he was going to be when I had him in the ring sparring with gggboxing" - Abel Sanchez

When this was posted in the Russian social network group dedicated to Golovkin, Kovalev himself wrote the following comments (I translate them into English):
"- Abel is over the top))) Come to earth. There were many sparring sessions and each sparring went differently. But I can say for sure that Gena is very tough and it's truly hard to box with him"

And then TomLoeffler1 -"this was taken out of context-Abel was very complimentary toward Kovalev-he beat up everybody in sparring except GGG"

from a thread made a while back

Dude, the weight and size difference would be horrible, even at a catchweight. He would end up getting KOd.

Way too big, Kovalev would stop him probably. Unless GGG used his lower weight speed to help him somehow... Either way a risky and dumb fight for GGG.

You can talk about all the sparring rumors you want, but if this fight gets made, kovalev would end golovkins career. Golovkin is flat-footed and he would be a sitting duck.

Golovkin comes into the ring weighing 170 lbs. A catch weight of 170 or 171 wild be doable. Now of course I wouldn't even entertain the thought of the fight if I were Golovkin's people.

GGG doesn't cut weight at middleweight, he has no business at 174. I'd like to see GGG fight Canelo at 154.

Catchweight?, no thanks. GGG is a middleweight and Kovalev is a light heavyweight, let's keep it at that.

Kovalev is elite at 175. GGG is elite at 160. Both are the best in their divisions. P4P very hard to split them but with the natural size advantage kovalev has I'd edge towards him taking the win.
