Agreed but there is a difference:

Marquez was at 135 and was asked to move up 2 divisions to 144.

Hatton was already fighting at 147 so was only moving up 1 division.

He was asked to move up to a catchweight, and then Canelo came in higher.

JMM also called Mayweather out on live TV. Hatton did not call out Canelo.

Mayweather paid him 300k or whatever the contracted penalty was and the rest is history. It's not like Marquez was going to make it to 147 in his first move at the weight anyway.

Mayweather is a polarizing figure and the Marquez fight was a much bigger fight than the Alvarez vs. Hatton fight. That's why a bigger deal was made out of it when Mayweather didn't make weight.

The only problem here is the thread starter obvious racism.

Canelo fought Hatton because the (corrupt) WBC or whichever alphabet it was sanctioned it as a title fight, again agree Canelo did a dirty one on Hatton, but Hatton was never gonna win at light-middle having several losses at welterweight.

Canelo should have made the weight, but the comparison would be Canelo asking Hatton to fight at 157-158 and coming in at 159.

Let me make it simple for you:
Anything above 140 is considered a welterweight..

The LIMIT for lightweight is 135, the LIMIT for light-welterweight is 140, the LIMIT for welterweight is 147.

So if you weigh 144 your a welterweight.

If you weight 138 your a light welterweight

& if you weigh 133 your a lighweight etc etc

Where do these guys come from:blood

The local fastfood club or a bar, where everyone is far too simple minded to understand the sport's basics.
