The guy he killed? I'm just wondering because I expected him to dedicate the fight to him last night. Not seen anything but would appreciate it.
Who the **** is Siminov? You mean Roman Simakow? Kovalev dont like to talk about it. Everybody is feeling sad for Simakow, but for Sergey it was also a big trauma, Its obvious that Roman had some brain injury before the fight, because we have seen many more brutal KO's than in Kovalev -Simakow fight, but nobody died.
Well it is spealt Simikov according to boxrec so you are as wrong as I was and I am just curious. Surely he must have said something.
I heard he contacted Simkov's family and kinda depended on what they will say when it comes to continuing his career. After this contact he accepted that he was just doing his job and it was just an accident and he decided to continue.
He gave a lot of praise about Simikovs heart and warrior instinct. Also his deep regret to Simikovs family and he gave away his entire next purse to Simis family.
Roman Simakov. I dont think Kovalev killed him but damage was already done. Watch Simakov in that fight. He was in pretty rough fight before he met Kovalev maybe something happened there. Damn shame... It was hard to watch Simakov losing his balance while getting up, dude was fighting literally for his life.:verysad
Aw right. Just wondering about that mate. A lot of guys can never throw punches with the same venom after an incident like that, not that I am judging Kovalev for it. he seems like a nice guy and is just doing his job.
I know what you are referring to. I find that bit hard to watch. I watched it on youtube and some of he comments were incredibly disrespectful.
Apparently I was wrong about Simakov's family talking to Kovalev though.. http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?p=11505289 Hello to everybody. I want to share some thoughts about my recent fight with Roman Simakov As you have certainly seen, it started in a measured pace and it was quite even. Ive got going only in the second round after the mediocre opening. In the midst of the fourth, I injured my left thumb, which I had surgery on four years ago. I decided to fight in more measured pace after that and gave Roman some room for his own activities. After my successful attack in the sixth, when I put Simakov down, I honestly thought he wouldnt rise to continue fighting but he did. Frankly speaking, I wanted this fight to be stopped because Roman had eaten so much leather to that point plus my own thumb gave me sudden pain with each punch I was throwing. Only when Romka (affectionate diminutive to Roman in Russian) moved backwards I landed a left hand to his forearm. I do think it wasnt a single punch which resulted in the tragedy. Its clearly seen on screen. Certainly, I was very glad to get this win but I was unaware of Romans condition. I thought at that time that he had finally made the right decision not to continue this fight for his own good. When I came to his dressing room, he wasnt there. He was in the hospital already He was a Fighter and a Man. May his spirit rest in peace Meand my manager tried to speak with Romans parents but they dont even want to hear about us. I understand it perfectly as they lost their beloved one. Thats a horrible tragedy. My manager bought them tickets to go from Kemerovo to Ekaterinburg but they were too late. They were too late as they landed in Ekaterinburg just thirty minutes after Romans death. If I ever step in the ring again, I will dedicate my next fight to Roman. All of my earnings will be sent to his family. Forgive me, Roman Rest in Peace, Warrior...
If I remember right Kovalev gave a big part of his purse from Campillo (or White) fight to Simikov's family?
