How good would Mayweather be in the 80's era?

Loses to Leonard, Hearns, Duran, and Pryor + possibly Benitez. Beats Cuevas, McCrory, Starling, Curry, Brown, Honeyghan, Breland, Roger Mayweather, Taylor, McGirt.

 

I'm always surprised how many people like Pryor over Mayweather in fantasy match-ups when their names occasionally sprout up together.

Beats Serrano, Chacon, Limon, and Boza. Would favor him over Camacho, Ramirez, and Rosario.

 

I agree:yep with the exception of Camacho. I recken Hector big time over Floyd. Thats a Hector who's focused on the job of course.

 

I think Uncle Roger would have his number, you are not going to lose to your nephew...

 

Indeed. He'd be among the best of the second rung of the ladder types.


A fight with Benitez could go either way,though. Much depends on whether or not Wilfred is focussed.

 

I think Mayweather cleanly out points Duran.

Leonard vs Mayweather would be a close one.

Mayweather would not fight Pryor.

Would Roger be his trainer and his opponent at the same time? Tough to give corner advice, although he would have a good insight :hey

 

I see Leonard beating Mayweather convincingly. Too much in his arsenal.

 

He could do both, in this scenario, and he is going to make sure he wins...

 

I've always felt welter Tommy would be the worst match-up for Mayweather and the only one I would say with great confidence would beat him. I'd fancy Leonard too, but it would be a much closer fight. The most diffiuclt call after that is probably peak Curry, who I think matches up well with almost any technical fighter at 147.

 

He had struggles near and in his pomp with Starling. That would suggest technical fighters actually might of been an issue for Curry.

 

High workrate, versatility, adequate power, relentlessness, unlimited stamina, good chin, accurate puncher...

He has a great shot. We saw Floyd struggle with Castillo, a bit with Hatton and with Cotto. There's no reason to think why Pryor couldn't give him a rough night.
