Floyd won't give Pacquiao another chance

MANILA, Philippines – Unbeaten American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has seemingly slammed the door on a potential mega-fight against Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao, telling a Michigan news outlet that he does not want to give the “Pacman” another chance.

Mayweather, who is training for a September 14 fight against Mexico’s Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, told MLive over the weekend that the Pacquiao fight has run its course.

“(Pacquiao) had a chance to make the fight in the past, and basically, that’s the best place I’d like to leave it,” said Mayweather.

Mayweather has previously said he will be willing to fight Pacquiao, but only if the Filipino signed with his company, Mayweather Promotions.

But Mayweather told MLive that even that will not persuade him to give the Pacman a shot.

“That’s probably how I was feeling at that particular time. I’m only human. Floyd Mayweather does contradict himself. I’m only human, I’m not perfect,” he said.

“How are things today? He’s not going to get a chance to fight me. I was feeling that way weeks ago. Now, I’m feeling like I wouldn’t even give him a chance,” he added. “He had a chance, he blew it, so that’s what it is.”

Boxing fans clamored for a mega-fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather for years, as the two boxers climbed to the top of the sport’s pound-for-pound rankings. But Pacquiao’s recent dip in form has taken off a lot of the bout’s luster.

Although the two sides engaged in repeated negotiations, they disagreed on several key issues, including blood and urine testing, as well as the revenue split.

Pacquiao, who has lost two consecutive bouts, will try to bounce back in November when he fights Brandon Rios in Macau.

Floyd's constantly bringing up the topic and making excuses, when he really doesn't need to, and only casts more questions about his never made fight with Pac

He's not constantly bringing it up. If it were up to Floyd, he would never have to talk about Pacquiao again. He talks about it because people and reporters always ask about the Pacquiao fight, and this is something he probably already knows he's going to have to deal with forever.

After being insulted by Arum the way he was?

He's right to say "FCUK PAC!"

He can make just as much money without him, and he doesn't have to give Arum the huge payday he's looking for. And all the message board warriors who hate him and call him coward? He's been ignoring that all his life. You think he gives a rat's ass what you people say about him?

He clearly can't stand Arum, and has found ways to make money in spite of him. And this is no exception.

He doesnt give a damn about Pac or boxing or he would've pushed Pac to fight Mayweather. doesnt give a damn about Rigo whos one of the purest boxers in the game, straight snake.

Seems to me marketing 101 says give the "customer what he wants." We the boxing fans are the customers, and we have made it clear that we want this fight and we're willing to pay top $$ to see it.

So if Mayweather's such a great businessman, why doesn't he give the people what they want and help his legacy to boot?

Face it, if this fight never happens, Mayweather is going to be viewed as the guy who ducked Pac and his legacy will suffer greatly because of it. He's even said he won't give Pac a fight, so how obvious can it be as to who is avoiding who?

The guys basically a calculating coward and I don't understand how anyone could be a fan of his. Hell Duran for example got in the ring with Hagler. Nobody expected him to win, but you have to respect a fighter who's willing to step into the ring with anyone and push his talents to the limit and not be scared to loose his "0". One thing you can say about the fab 4, is that you don't have to wonder who would beat who, cause they all fought each other.

I see it the other way. I feel if the fight never happens it was Pac's fault. and im not alone theres plenty of people that think this. yes more would say Mayweather ducked because he just has more haters.

Lets be honest hear. pacquiao turned down the biggest fight of his life for a blood test that he didnt want to take or didnt want to take to soon or not random. think about sports to day?? Everybody is getting caught with steriods, were are in a steriods Era and Pac turns it down??? When mayweather says 50-50 and agrees to pay 10 mil over every pound hes over 147?? and u turn that down??

I feel Mayweather, the fight is long and gone. hes fighting a Prime JMW thats has a better chance to beat him then anybody else has over the year when Pac is fighting a punching bag in Rios whos never fought at 147. u tell me whos fought the better comp over the years??

PAC lost his chance when Floyd lost his urge.

PAC lost his chance when he knocked Cotto down.

There's still hope if PAC is willing to join TMT.

Surprise surprise another thread started so all the little Pacturds can crawl out from under their stones and slag off Mayweather.

How about the vermin Arum, and his cross eyed little loser beg Mayweather for a fight in which the KTFO in 6 one says he will take 30% to the unbeaten guys 70%?

I haven't been following the fight negotiations as much as some, but it seems to be a 50-50 split is fair, as long as it includes the PPV's and all sources of income. Hell you can make it 60-40 for the winner, that works too. The drug test is a bit strange. Who make Mayweather a commissioner? But if they BOTH agree to take the drug tests, that works.

As far as who thinks who is ducking who, we have Roach saying let's make the fight and we have Mayweather saying the ship has sailed. So it's not a question of hate, it's a question of who is saying what. And it seems to me that Mayweather is saying no, and Pac and his team are trying to make the fight. As to who fought the better comp, pretty close call actually, I'd probably lean towards Pac.

All that said, I think if they did fight, Mayweather would likely win, he has the size advantage and Pac's slowing down, but styles make fights and this would be a hard style for Mayweather to deal with.

Whether a fighters unbeaten or not means **** all.

SRR lost his 0 against Duran, and it didn't impact either his legacy or his marketability. He went on to beat Hearns (X2) and Hagler and won two rematches against Duran. All an "O" tells me is you're too scare to push yourself to the limit. Keep going up in weight, and you'll lose your "0" Question is how far can you go? Duran made it from lightweight to middleweight, going the distance with Hagler, (top 5 all time) and beating Barkley.

This is a pretty pathetic era in boxing when the only thing that matters is protecting your record.

It would be Floyd's biggest fight of his life and biggest pay day too.
