To show, that he is a real champ and doesn't fear the other countrys because he believes in his skills. Vitalli, Wladimir, Wlodarczyk, those guys are true champs, fighting everywhere.
Both are at fault. Its true though, HBO never mentioned Michalczewski's name just cause their prima donna would get offended.
he is the recognized champ by unifying titles. not some WBOgus belt holder like DM was fighting no names. The U.S. is the boxing capital of the world, deal with it cry baby :|
You wanna beat the king? Then come see him. Dont be like, yea ok ill fight him but only in germany. gtfo
You could say the same about Jones not wanting to fight in Germany. This was each man's excuse for the fight never happening. Wish it did, though. DM would have torn Jones head off.
...and how many times prime RJJ fought outside US by comparison? Not even once. I am not sure if "ducking" is proper term when neither fighter shows real interest in the fight. Financially fighting in another time zone would not be probably good for any of them, while it would be quite risky fight for both (I agree RJJ would be a clear favourite, but still DM was better than majority of his opponents). Bazooka told Gonzales exposed DM... well, there is as much sense in it as in saying that Tarver and Johnson exposed RJJ (even worse, DM at least gave competitive fight) - but the true answer is that both champions were simply past prime. Someone mentioned Hall fights... well, during the 1st fight DM was in full control of the fight and it was rightly stopped when Hall face looked grotesque from his jab. During the rematch Hall did much better and was close to scoring an upset (and now it was DM's face that looked like piece of meat), still DM wake up and turned the tables... you may discuss if the stoppage was a bit premature, but the best Hall could do was to survive and lose by UD (competitive but clear).
:rofl Darius was all about fighting weak comp. There was NOTHING brilliant about Michalcwewski and you know it:deal He was another Euro bum that expected RJJ to drop everything and fight him in Germany.
DM was a stay at home fighter for the most part, Roy was not leaving the US.. Do the math. Though DM could have forced a fight with Jones, had he done what so many other great Europeans have done, which is come over to America and get a fan base, but he wasn't interested.
The **** you wanna go to germany if you have all the major belts and dariusz only has one? Why should he go to germany, where is the sense in that? You want the belts come see the king as i said.
:roflatsch You do know who those WBA and IBF belts belonged to right? They were stripped from DM. Those were not Jones belts. At all. You don't even know the circumstances surrounding this why even comment on it?
I actually think RJJ probably would have won, but I also believe DM had a real chance. Regardless, the fact that they both were recognized as the 2 top dogs at '75 for years makes it inexplicable that the fight never happened.
