For what it's worth, Celebrity net worth says Douglas is worth 3 million dollars today. Not sure how accurate that site is though.

What may be more impressive is that Douglas balooned up to nearly (or over) 400 lbs after the Holyfield bout and almost died on several occasions from diabetes. After six years away from the ring he returned to go 8-1 against mostly nondescript opponents (accept Lou Saverese who KO'ed him in 1) but I think he again proved to himself (and us) how could he really could have been after six years and dropping 150 pounds to get back in fighting shape. I personally always thought that was a pretty good story.

  2. Fixed... does your bro not realize the punches that both fighters took in that fight, especially Tyson. Tyson's head was getting practically punches off his shoulders and people claim it was a fix... haha

    ****ing ridiculous.

No way it was a fix, as I don't think a fix would have called for Tyson to take a savage beating, land a haymaker and almost save the day, than take another savage beating the rest of the way. That sounds fixed in the same way a WWE match might be.

The other day I saw a thread about Buster Douglas & I wanted to respond, but couldn't at the time. Now I have the time & can't find the damn thread, so I'll say what I want to say right here:

The funny thing was Douglas was meant to rematch Tyson once he defeated savarese in 99 however that didn't happen so Lou fought Tyson and was disposed of in thirty seconds

The fight didn't happen because Saverese KO'ed Buster in one, hence Tyson-Saverese.

Fought a fantastic fight that night, no doubt for the love of his mother who had just passed. His movement was excellent, fantastic jab, setting up those lethal uppercuts. No doubt had the talent, seemed like he couldn't keep up the hunger. The following fights were very sad. No doubt Tyson was not at his best that night, the Tyson corner was a complete joke with nothing to keep down the swelling. However, Douglas was amazing that night and deserved it.

I guess you did. I read it like you were saying Tyson fought Lou because Buster lost, not necessarily because he beat Buster. That was nit-picking of me, I apologize.

That's a great question, because in early 99 Tyson fought Botha while Douglas fought a no-hoper.

Did Douglas ever give his opinion on a rematch? I was just getting into boxing in this time and have never came across him ever saying he was open to a rematch. Obviously I could have missed it. Would be interesting in seeing some links if anyone has him of old Douglas interviews post Tyson, etc.
