He still sat there and watched the number 1 P4P fighter collect all the belts. Stripped or not, Roy fought for and won them... I am quick to call Floyd Mayweather the man of the divison when he moves up and unifies.

You dont have to go to another nation to prove your the real champ that was done by winning all of the titles while DM carried a fake belt beat nothing but bums .....

if DM wanted the fight Jones said he would take the fight but not in Germany you want to fight the champ come fight the champ on his terms nuff said....

DM made zero attempts to come to the states and get it done he didnt want no part of Jones he simply used his name to validate himself in Europe only to turn around and get dominate by Gonzalez

    No.

DM was an overrated B level European fighter that refused to travel to Jones, a big money making superstar in what was the largest boxing market in the world at the time.

Better question - Did DM duck Jones by overpricing himself and not leaving his own backyard when he wasn't even a big attraction? Why is that never mentioned?

What? The p4p no. 1 in the world and superstar has to travel and make concessions for a 2nd tier name across the globe and fight in a country who at the time was the world standard for corrupt officiating? Please!

DM was no challenge to Jones.

Eubank, Benn and others as well wanted no parts of Jones and have admitted to such. I wish they'd all have stepped up, Jones' resume would look even better. Not that it isn't already spectacular since he cleaned out mutual opposition of the time much easier and picked up a few ATGs and HOF wins along the way.

People are completely ignorant if they think that Jones ducked, or would have had any issue's with a fighter as basic as Michalczewski and it's amazing how you can spin something around enough times and others will believe it. They've been spinning this nonsense since the late 90s/early 2000s and it's still mentioned, haha!

What would people say about Canelo if he insisted on the fight being a money split that favored him and only in Mexico? Fans would call that unrealistic and wouldn't blame Floyd for not taking the fight. Same applies here.

Only DM is more akin to Robert Guerrero than he is Canelo Alvarez.

Get your heads out of your asses RJJ haters. :D

Roy went public saying that he'd fight DM on neutral territory (the UK). DM wanted NO parts of Jones and elected to stay hidden in Germany until he lost to Jones leftover Julio Gonzales. Can't blame DM for ducking Jones because this fight was being considered during the time when Roy was ABSOLUTELY CLOWNING the LHW division.

    Precisely.

Yet the myth that Jones ducked DM still presents itself sometimes.

    Yes....Darius' ego..

Only a fool would expect RJJ to drop everything to fight a nobody in Germany.

Hopkins presented much more of a challenge than DM. This is the fight that should have got made pre-Ruiz...

This fight was much more important for DM's legacy than it was Roy's, who already had a couple of the generations big name scalps and was widely recognized in the boxing world as the best fighter alive.

Though DM's name would be nice to add to Roy's resume, it looks much worse that DM missed the best fighter in the world that fought in his weight class.

DM needed this fight more, and should have done more to make it happen in my opinion.

There was actually a point where the DM camp wasn't answering Jones' calls, and his promoter actually said they wouldn't change their plans for Roy.
