There is no such rule. You score a championship bout no different from any other.

I don't think it's fair to say he did better than Dib considering Dib fought him over 10rounds in his home town only 1 month ago, I doubt Oliver was fully recovered from such a tough fight with Dib.

Yeah you have a point Olivers fight with Dib wasn't that long ago I like Joel but never rated him. But was impressed with how he looked against Oliver
trapping him on the ropes and keeping him there at will. Besides the punch that caused the cut to Joel's eye he did it easily.

I don't rate Brunker at all, he has been a pro a long time and not fought anybody close to world class, he will lose if he ever decides to step up.

To the guys saying Geale landed more shots. According to the stats Barker landed 55 more power shots and they landed an identical number of jabs.

Regardless of punch stats, I thought Barker got off first in most exchanges and deserved the win.

    :think

    Very different perspective here:

"A very quiet bout fought on the ropes throughout, with Oliver deceptively fighting off the ropes without ever going to center ring, baiting Brunker into a trap, trading inside shots with Brunker, and forcing Brunker to hold. Brunker countered as best as he could, but Oliver appeared to win as the busier fighter. However, the bout was close and difficult to score."

How much more punishment can you Aussie boys take from us Brits ??... first the lions , then the ashes was a shoe in and Dazzling Darrens just taken Geales world championship belt ... what next we win the RLWC ?? (mind you you boys cant even win that)

Aside from having a laugh and rejoycing at how much money I took from you Aussie suckers on Betfair I have to give full creds to your man Geale ! ... he deserves another chance at the title and hopefully he gets a re-match in blighty ..

I don't know, it wasn't cited by the editor. It's from the Boxrec page for the bout.

Opinions vary I gave it to Brunker fairly easily not close at all.

Anyone else think its a bit strange Gealey looked tired from round one and never seemed to hit his straps? He looked a totally different fighter than were used to seeing. Wonder if he used to maybe get a lift for his fights like another Aussie middleweight. I'm a huge fan of DG just seemed like a more lethargic bloke in there, even the look on his face between rounds had me worried.
