If you were Deontay Wilder's manager...

and you could choose any of these opponents as the next logical step for him-who do you take? This is starting with the admittedly faulty position they'd all want the fight and there's nothing stopping it from coming off. But I want to know if you were managing him instead of as a fan. Like as a fan I would like to see him fight the Arreola/Mitchell winner but if I were managing him I'd still be hoping to send him more trial horse guys to try and get him anyone safe to bring him past four or five rounds. I'd put him in with Guinn for a 10-rounder. We'd either see his stamina proven or at the likely worst you get to say he stopped someone who's never been stopped, even by so and so. And maybe you would like to see him get a title shot now as a fan but if you were managing him want to build up the streak more, see if Wladimir slips a bit or even loses, etc. Not to mention he does seem to still be improving. I would put him in with Adamek. Right now.


Adamek is there to be hit, and isn't going to KO anyone. It would be a good stepping stone and a chance for some pretty decent press around the globe, because Adamek still has a lot of fans worldwide.

 

Wilder needs to go more rounds before getting in with Adamek.
Wilder could gas and then be liable to getting caught, or generally just outboxed for 10 rounds. We don't know how good Wilder's stamina is yet.
I'd put him in with Chisora. Durable, has been knocked out so gives Wilder that hope, well ranked, fought Scott last time so will be fresh in American minds and has fought for world titles, and the build up would be class!
This would probably happen in America, and Del Boy isn't scared of travelling or turning down a fight.
Quite a high risk fight for Wilder, mind - and one I'd have Del Boy winning.

 

I'd like to see him vs. Mitchell/Banks or Arreola. I also like the idea of Adamek.

Much would depend on what I, as his manager, knew about DW

If he's a glass jawed hype then I'd continue to match him very carefully to set up a good cash out fight. Of course DW could go back to KOing dish washers and no hope washed up names :yep

If he's not glass jawed then it's beyond time to step up the comp you list in the poll - like Arreola, Wach, some of the others.

 

IMO the Arreola/Mitchell winner will be a very tough task for Wilder at this stage. I think he has a 50/50 shot at either of them but it's a tough fight still. Curious if his handlers are really serious about this.

 

Chisora is more dangerous than Adamek, in my opinion.

Adamek, while skilled, just doesn't have the pop to keep Wilder off of him. Plus he's nowhere near as durable as Chisora, so Wilder would eventually be able to get him. (Rocked by Rangefinder Jab)

And it's apparent that people still think he's a worthy opponent.

Adamek.

He went down hard from Travis Walkers straight right. I imagine Wilder could pull the same trick

 

Chisora, because we still don't know what Wilder is made of since he's never gone past 4 rounds, Chisora is a guarantee of at least 8-10 tough rounds

 

If you're his management, you want someone a little safer than Chisora. Del Boy may not be very skilled, but he is definitely capable of withstanding some firepower long enough to make it a bad night for Wilder.

 

Good thread, for me 1st pick would be Wach and 2nd Adamek.
