Why can't we produce a fighter that can slip punches?

Simple question and it's not hating on any current UK boxers.

We just tend to produce these 'ard 'warriors' who want to go toe to toe and throw punches without any head movement or thought to what is coming back at them. Froch, Hatton, Bellew, Collins, Benn, Cleverly, Khan etc. Nothing wrong with that but something must be getting overlooked at an amateur level?

I genuinely struggle to think of a boxer in the last 20 years who had above average footwork / movement (Calzaghe excepted).

Compare this to the yanks who produce slick fighters by the bucket load.

Ye true AND move with the punches, thats why we are tagged as glass jawed, we take huge shots on a regular basis.

If you can't see that Hatton used to slip punches you do not understand what you are watching, what about David Haye as well.

As mentioned, David Haye is a clear example.

You are going back 20 years and forget Prince?!

  5. Used to when he was on his WBU title reign, what about when the opposition stepped up, his defense was fooking awful. Hardly no head movement, especially for a fighter who came forward aggressively as much he did.

  6. Even Naz's defense was shockingly bad, he used to take shots flush and it looked awful cos he was so off balance. Not exactly what you would call slick.

Prince Naseem? Great fighter but was Kd on a regular basis at top level.

    Gavin Rees, Derek Chisora...seriously?

Hatton - have you seen the state of the bloke? Did you watch the Mayweather, Collazo, Lazcano fights where he used his face as a shield?

I'm not sure any of the others compare to Toney, Mayweather, Hopkins, J.Taylor, Sweet P, Dirrell, Dawson etc.

With the exception of his last fight watch Burns's defence watertight, theres hardly a mark on his face in any of his fights
