well if u have a glass jaw then u must be a fraud, thats what everyone says about cleverly, mares and khan, so that means hearn was to right
atsch atsch atsch Hearns' greatness is ENHANCED by the fact that he had to overcome a weak chin to achieve greatness!
I'd have to agree with Zakman here. Thomas Hearns had a horrendous glass jaw, but is an ATG/HOF nonetheless. You simply can't compare guys like Mares, Khan or Cleverly to him. atsch
Tommy was a legitimate champion in an era where we had legendary all time greats. Khan is put out like yesterdays paper by guys like Danny Garcia. Imagine Khan fighting in the Fab 4 era. :rofl
Exactly! When people try to make analogies like this, they are overlooking the CONTEXT in which these athletes are competing - the quality of their opponents, the competitiveness of the era, etc. etc.. Now, I don't blame them. Unlike those of us who have been following boxing for years and years, they are probably teenagers to whom Thomas Hearns is just another famous boxer they've heard of, and is therefore somehow equivalent to Nathan Cleverly, Abner Mares or Amir Khan!
Anyone, including trolls and inbred filth like you, that dares mention Hearns in the same line as Amir "Kangaroo Jumping Extreme" Khan or Cleverly needs to be stripped naked, hanged in a public bathroom and whipped for three hours straight even after death.
There a difference here .. Hearn earned his Glass Jaw by his willingness to engage in "Ether you're getting KO or Im getting KO but someone getting ktfo!" attitude. Hearn's many wars is the result of his declined punch resistance .
It is way too early to count mares out though. I am willing to say that mares wins a rematch. Mares has a solid chin; he has beaten great fighters, with a glass chin, you dont go on a streak like that. He will be back
Hearns's jaw wasn't exactly glass anyway. He took shots from plenty of big punchers and came through.
Hearns out-boxed and out-feinted a peak Ray Leonard for 12 rounds and knocked a prime Roberto Duran clean out. Barely scraping by Tony Bellew doesn't quite compare...
