Big props to Gonzalez, at 126lbs I really give Gonzalez a chance to defeat Rigondeaux. At this moment he is rejuvenated and is big enough to force a physical affair with Rigondeaux if he can get to him with being discouraged by the punitive counters. I have a good feeling it will be a much better fight than people think, mainly cause Gonzalez will go all out trying to get on the semi-legendary P4P chart :bbb He should not fight anybody else but Rigondeaux, because he is the Man & at this stage Gonzalez has to go for the best.
Rigo will not go up to 126... and rigo would put a boxing clinic on... be a boring one sided fight imo
What's the point of Gonzalez calling out Rigo? Rigo is not going to go up in weight and GBP has controlling options on Gonzalez.
I know Rigondeaux is too smart/stingy to give up any advanatge. At 126 vs a motivated Gonzalez, interesting things can happen Rigo is not really hard to find, he punks guys out with vicious counters. At 126 Gonzalez just might be the man to dig deep and take many to land some, he seems to be rejuvenated and at his spiritual peak...Anyways like you said Rigondeaux is not going to give up any advantage, because he is perfect at 122
Would be a good fight. I like how they match up stylistically. As a short fighter, whether southpaw or othadox, it is very difficult to go against a taller guy with an opposite stance that prefers to box and has power. Rigo would have his hands full to say the least. It would be an impressive win. Why not go up to 126? It's only 4 lbs, and Rigo could use the publicity.
jhonny should stick to fighting face forward brawlers. rigondeaux will school the **** out of him. anyone got that pic of rigondeaux taking donaire to school. the photoshopped one?
You guys crack me up....when faced with the option of moving up and fighting Gonzalez for a championship, or doing nothing, you're all sounding like doing nothing is the better option. I wasn't aware of just how many alums from the Winky Wright School of Business for Boxers were posting.
That left hook is not landing over the top of Rigondeaux's right shoulder. Donaire was chasing shadows and Jhonny will be too. At leash he is tall and boxes. Jg could turn it into a chess match and wait for the chance to land a big right hand. He won't decision rigo without buying two judges.
Rigondeaux wants every little advantage he can get. He is still in the ultra competitive Olympic mindset. He feels perfect at 122lbs & I think he is worried about the extra 0.5 inch of reach or height he might be giving up by moving to 126 in addition to the 4 lbs that he doesn't want to gain. Younger guys roiding up in divisions need to learn from him atsch Although I want to see him fight Johnny I respect his decision to remain a problem for the Pimps and their class B fighters who want to bypass him in 122 on their way up to get cashed out :yep
Gonzalez is a good fighter, obviously and with Nacho it's just an added bonus. But Rigo is just too skilled. So what if he doesn't want to move up? I believe he said he would fight at a CW of 124. Nothing wrong with that. The man feels great at 122 so let him stay there
I'm a fan of Guillermo's, but what Rigo's gotta realize is that he needs to face the Gonzalez's of this world to keep himself visible. As of now, it's still too easy for the other top fighters around the weight to simply ignore him and keep going about their business. If I were him, I'd be pushing Arum hard to make this fight. The line of championship caliber fighters willing to fight him isn't exactly wrapped around the block.
Thats how it should be weight classes exist for a freakin reason! Moving up in weight or catch weight fights, should be big time exceptions.
Arum doesn't like him, and he can't add him to his Team Asia twerkers, because Rigo is just too damn dark skinned to pick up fans in the /Xenophobic by isolation/ China (opposed to the Hawaiian Punch or even Rios). So Rigo is already a top P4P fighter with Arum or without him, no one passing by 122 has an excuse to pass him, unless he submits to the fact that Rigondeaux is superior to him.
