In good ol' neutral Switzerland. Teper is yet another of a seemingly endless of tubby, padded record heavyweights trying to accumulate an 0 and a payday, and as far as European heavyweights go I don't feel he's ever nearly as good as Edmund Gerber. Interestingly, both Teper Gerber fought the always games, Germany based Nigerian Gbenga Oloukun. Teper was dropped heavily by him, but both scraped by him. The only fight on Teper's record that interests me is his stoppage of ultra durable Cisse Salif... But looking at what Salif did against fellow fatty heavyweight Alexander Petkovic, he probably threw the fight. So, anyone have any thoughts on this one? Does Sprott deny another heavyweights entrance to the world scene?
I am genuinely interested mate but despite being fairly knowledgable with fighters I've never seen teper but I will look him up,what card is this on(is it a headliner if in Switzerland) It shows sprotts ambitions unfortunately are only money orientated now because he could have had a go at price or Lucas Browne or a creditable European contender. I still think sprott has something to give and is Britains best heavy outside of haye, fury, chisora and price.
Um yeah, Teper is not as good as his record may suggest, but he is a solid top 100 with top 30 potential. Not saying much, but he has beaten the journeyman put in with him and if he beats Sprott he'll have a far better record than a few in the top 50. As for the Saliffe Petkovic affair.......Saliffe did NOT throw that fight. He was beating Petkovic mercilessly, but the ref was warning him every time he legally punched the fat worthless Petkovic. :rofl
Referee was joke but cmon it was Salif who gave his victory away. He had Petkovic down, hurt and 100% ready to go but then he refused to throw a punch!! I couldn't believe my eyes. Salif didn't give a single F to end the fight.
I've seen Teper several times and never thought much of him. It's always underwhelming and exemplary of why I dislike watching heavies for the most part. He really isn't that much better than Gerber, no - if he even is better. He looked abysmal versus Hawkins, and Salif (who I strongly believe took a dive), and Perk. Sprott is a live body unlike any of those guys...and is probably even better than what passes itself for Gbenga Oloukun these days. I did actually give my thoughts on this match-up already.
Guy is just fat, slow and with low skill levels, Despite a nice amateur record. If Sprott isnt in bad training too or has got shot since his last time out, he should take this at least unoficially. That from watching Teper against Salif, Oloukun, Petkovic and Gosip.
If you've seen the Salif fight (Which I literally cannot even find a news article on) than can you fill me in on what happened? I refuse to believe Teper legitimately blasted out Salif.
Has anyone seen Teper's last match up against cruiserweight turned heavy Timur Musafarov? SD win.-(
Salif fight baffles me as well. He seemed to tell the ref that he had enough when Teper started pinning him up :shrug Salif was a very late replacement though. Possible that he just wasnt in shape to go on for long? :think
