I read an interesting piece that featured Sanchez's thoughts on his fighter and the MW division. Sanchez says that he told Golovkin 3 1/2 years ago that Golovkin could become the no.2 fighter of all time behind Ali. He also says that in the MW division, GGG, Martinez, and Chavez Jr. are on one level, Quillin is a level below, and guys like Gaele and Barker are a level below that. He goes on to say that Golovkin will destroy Stevens and that once that happnes, Golovkin's fights will be worth more money. At this point, more opportunities will open up. Finally,he talked about how if Golovkin were as big as Mayweather, everyone would want to fight Golovkin.

I'm not sure where Golovkin will wind up on the ATG list, but I do agree with Sanchez that opportunities will open up if GGG keeps dominating. This is a risk/reward business. Guys will have no problem getting in there with GGG if the paycheck is right. Continuous dominating perfomances will raise the interest in Golovkin, which will raise the amount of money HBO is willing to pay for his fights. This of course will mean that there will be more money to offered to potential opponents.

Don't agree with the ATG thing, I don't really think anybody can know how a boxer's career will develop...

Agree on the rest, when he keeps destroying his opposition the interest in him and hence the money will increase which will make him more interesting for high caliber opponents..

I don't know if any of that is true, but I've never seen a trainer with a bigger smile on his face than Abel Sanchez.

    He is....hell...he's ahead of GG.

    Check Jr's resume....it's better than Golovkin's and he's younger.

Second-best? It's a shame GGG is so underestimated by his own trainer.

I know that is some serious lowballing. He has everything: hand speed of meldrick taylor, super correct orthodox technicality of JMM, left handed awkwardness of Pacquiao and sweet pea, Mike Tyson's Bob and Weave and peekaboo via d'amato, George Foreman's height and size advantage, Ali's ability to dance behind the jab, Pryor's relentlessness, Duran's subtle head movement and machismo, Benitez' defense, Hagler's chin, Hearn's overhand right, toughness and will of JCC Sr. He can just do it all, and its infinitely clear every time he laces up the gloves. He even kills people like Max Baer.
