http://www.boxingnews24.com/2013/08/featherweight-joel-brunker-looking-for-big-fight/ Good luck to him. Think he will fall short at world class level but might get lucky. Should try and get Chris John. John would probably beat him 120-108 but hasn't stopped anyone for years and Joel might get lucky.
I think John has already offered them s fight then backed out with no apparent reason. Brunker beat Oliver easier than dib and he had a world title so there is still hope for the lad.:happy
The casino at Singapore wanted 2 Asian fighters fighting one another to attract the big gamblers from Indonesia,Japan,Korea etc. Joel missed out on a fight on a Geale card because of it.
That last fight was UGLY.....if more than twelve people in this country competed in boxing Joel would be lower ranked....
He did not do better than Dib, Dib fought Oliver over 10 rounds in Oliver's home town. Brunker fought him only one month later, Oliver would still not have recovered from the tough fight with Dib also Brunker Oliver was only over 8 rounds. Dib beats Brunker easily. Agree
Aye, good luck to him. Brunker ain't special but he is decent. In head to head ability, I've got him the clear #1 domestically, ahead of Billy Dib and Braydon Smith (not that much quality exists beyond that). His resume only has three notable additions (former champ Choko Hernandez, former prospect/contender Mighty Mike Oliver, and solid journeyman Trashy Riovalle), but there have been cases of an unbeaten getting a big shot for having done less. :conf He pretty much has a level and it's short of world class. Matched with guys like Fulgencio he can look superhuman but he got chewed up and spit out by Lee Selby in sparring and would've been absolutely squashed by Chris John had the old man answered his summons. His jab is OK, his speed is OK, his dig is OK - everything is just OK. There is nothing to elevate him when stepping up competition. To his credit, he understands the value of getting close and softening up the body - and I do like the way he works in the uppercut off the jab to mix it up and not just always spam the 1-2 on the outside.
Agreed he fall just short doesnt mean that he can't beat dib, he will certainly force the fight, Chris john beat Marquez, he is highly skilled even though he is faded and is way to much for dib, brunkerr brunker or anyone at that level brunker could develop a bit better if he had more consistent sparring and training stateside or Europe
Brunker at his best could beat the Dib who fought Gradovich. ..and come to reflect on it, John is looking worse and worse (real bad against Hosono before copping a break) so by 2014 Joel with some fine-tuning could be in with a shot there... When he originally called John out it was pure fantasy but as the Dragon gets more ancient the breath contains less and less fire...
Common opposition: Belandres, Lopez, Mangan, Villacura, Oliver. Has there really been much between them h2h? Would Brunker do much worse against Gradovich? Would Dib fare better against Choko?
Dib barely only won 2 not much to right home about the rest were cause it was a 50 cent promotion, dibb had lost fight by round 6
John - Brunker was set I don't know who called who out. The fight was cancelled because the casino wanted 2 Asian fighters. http://australianboxingforum.yuku.com/topic/8191/Joel-Brunker-Vs-Chris-John?page=1#.Uh_31T9JOM8 ACE BOXING Angelo Di Carlo. HARRYS GYM Craig Christian. Joel would probably lose 120-108 or 117-111 but John is on the decline. Joel is not elite but has a punchers chance.
