He did when he went toe to toe.
He might have no choice against Canelo who can cut off the ring and has almost as big a reach as Floyd himself.

I honestly don't think those "experts" are missing the fact that Alvarez is young and talented, and can box n brawl :patsch

Your analysis is extremely simplistic. And also doesn't offer any insight into how the 2 will execute their gameplans against each other.

Also, the key isn't to "walk through" Mayweather's punches. Because he isn't stationary. And taking his shots are only a small piece of the puzzle, hitting him back is what is so hard for guys. :deal

Floyd's "troubles" with Cotto are overrated, and blown out of proportion. He almost knocked him out in the 12th round for ****s sake. :deal And I scored at least 10 rounds for Floyd. People got a little excited and exploded in their pants in parts of the fight because Cotto was doing better than other parts, but very rarely was Cotto in any sort of control during that fight.

Canelo has had some tough fights on his way up. One tough fight I remember was with Lanardo Tyner in that fight Tyner fought a tough and dirty fight in which the young 20 year old Canelo kept his composure. Afterwards, he hired Tyner to spar with him as he wanted to learn even more.

Another tough fight that he had was with Miguel Vazquez (twice). Like I have said in the past I am an un-official member of Team Vazquez given that I was at his camp everyday for his fight with Zappavigna. Anyways, Miguel is a dirty fighter that will do whatever it takes to win he is a poor man's B-Hop and he really frustated Canelo. I have seen video of this fight and have to say that Canelo has more experience than what people think.

His fight with Mosley was a tough fight too in which he maintained his composure after being cut.

Overall, he is as ready as one can hope to be.

This fight kind of reminds me of when Alejandro "Cobrita" Gonzalez fought P4P sweetheart Kevin Kelly. Nobody, gave Gonzalez a chance as he was young, lacked a resume, and Kelly was virtually invincible. From the first round it was immediately clear that Gonzalez punch was too much for Kelly. In the end the young kid from Guadalajara completely destroyed his eras slick power puncher.

    That is good background info.

Probably true that if you look at the number of fight Canelo has it means something. Of course some of them may have been taxi cab drivers :hey . Still though he does have a lot of fights for his age.

Kevin Kelly sure is no Floyd Mayweather.

I've added some insight in different threads around here.
    Here's one of them......

I think the heavy jab to disrupt rhythm will be key, but of course Canelo is going to have to apply alot of educated pressure behind that jab.
Work the body when Mayweather get up close to tie up like he likes to do.

When Mayweather is at the ropes, its hard to land a clean punch at him.
Since Canelo is simply bigger, he can thrust his body foward at Mayweather with his shoulders after a miss. Those shoulders can server to bully the smaller fighter.

I'm seeing the way Mayweather likes to use his shoulders and elbows to position himself to punch on the inside. Thats not as easy to do when the opponent is much heavier than yourself.
Mayweather loves doing that and if he does that against Canelo, expect Canelo to hammer the body.

I'm telling you guys, Canelo has strenghth at 154 lbs Mayweather has'nt faced in his career. He's physically stronger than both DLH and Cotto imo.

My thinking is that Mayweather is going to be forced to fight more than he would like, I want to see Mayweather's greatness come out in a situation when he's being forced out of his comfort zone.

I'm allready on record as stating a Mayweather clear victory over Canelo will impress me.
I'm actually allready impressed with Mayweather, win or lose against Canelo, he's an ATG imo. Fights against legit bigger oppostion like Canelo will tell me if Mayweather belongs amongst the very elites of all-time.
As it stands, I'm not convinced of that just yet. To many cherry picks when there was better oppostion available.

kinda to tell or show Canelo who the boss is. Remember Canelo was making demands about Floyd fighting him next or he wouldn't be on his undercard, Floyd told him to eff off but now he has to fight him in the very time frame that Canelo demanded as if Canelo was his boss. Floyd's little ego can't take that. There are people who don't like to feel like there being told what to do, that's Floyd to him if he doesn't at least make Canelo bow down to him in some way then he feels like a chump. But he doesn't need the catch weight and will win unless he looks 36 years old in that ring cuz not everyone is Hopkins...

In other words you're saying Canelo cant win. Mayweather will lose if he gets old. :nut:!:

Get real, Mayweather is coming off dominating a very good fighter in Robert Guerrero. You want to credit Mayweather for dominating him, you're forced to credit Canelo if he comes out victorious vs Mayweather.
    Cant have it both ways.

I'll give him the same credit I give anyone who beats Hopkins. Great accomplishment but it's expected at that stage of their careers and it's still got to be a top guy in the division to do it. The Guerrero fight was great, but Floyd wasn't the same Floyd who KOed Corrales. Floyd is in decline after every fight. Let me put it this way, if Canelo wins (I doubt it) it will be an impressive victory, but are you sure he could do the same thing to the Floyd that fought Oscar I don't think so...

This should be a good fight. It will be interesting to see if Alvarez is dismissed as another cherry picked opponent should Mayweather win decisively.

he cant let Floyd string together rounds....he gotta stay close and finish the championship rounds strong...floyd tends to run away with the championship rounds

also some of you let your feelings get involved too much and personal bias.....Floyd Mayweather inside that ring is the real deal....in any era he could hold his own certainly would lose a few but he would hold his own he is that good.

And then people are gonna wow at how amazinf Floyd is

(the very guy who ducked prime Cotto, prime Margo, prime Manny, Sergio, made Hatton move up)

Guys an amazing talent, but he's a coward, a ***** and a poosy. Baaxing fans need to wake up and back true warriors like JMM and Froch
