You honestly believe Floyd could fight Berto, for example, after Canelo? Of course not. Floyd works for them.
Lets think about this. Mayweather beat Cotto for the WBA JMW belt in May of 2012. After he got out of jail, he specifically requested that the WBA give him an exception so that he could fight Guerrero at WW and not lose his JMW belt. Why would he do that unless he planned on fighting at JMW again? And if he was going to fight at JMW again ,who else would he fight besides Alvarez?
He can fight who he wants. Any fight he chose would come with a large guarantee. Remember, Showtime was fighting for his services. Do you really think they had the leverage to sign him to a contract where he couldn't control his career?
It probably would have been an easy win for Floyd but **** it would have been great to see it. He was as relevant an opponent for Floyd at the time as anyone in Floyd's welterweight run has been. Same with guys like Pac, Williams and a younger Mosley and Cotto most people including myself would pick Floyd to beat them all. They all could have been great fights but none of them happened and Mayweather is mostly to blame for that.
pac and cotto were never going to happen because of the different promoters. younger mosley turned mayweather down remember?
If you actually knew what was happening or what made sense you would realize how none of the names on the OP were guys who were "ducked" by Floyd. If you can claim it was a "duck" by saying things like "oh he had a size advantage" or "oh he had a high KO ratio" than I can much easier dismiss them as being legit opposition. I could list every HW from the 30's-40's that Joe Louis didn't fight and say that he ducked them. So what?
Then stop claiming he is the GOAT when he did not fight all the great competition when they were present otherwise he ducked all of them. Can not claim greatness by playing it safe.......
