How does chopping wood help your punching power?

    yeah, it's good to wipe your ass out. taking a pic axe to some earth also blasts your whole body out.

    I think chopping wood offer strenght benefit for ones core, shoulders and back while requiring one to use balance and leverage.

    Good post. George Foreman swore by it and he was a fair puncher in his day.

    You produce powerful, momentum based movements. Do them in succession and you build your endurance with these powerful movements.

    Punching is very similar mechanics!

    Some people need to read Dempsey's book. Aside form working the muscles it teaches you how to use gravity and body weight to generate power.

    I don't know, i'm not a boxer... But i know this a lot of boxers have done manual labor.. I do masonry and carpentry, when i'm mixing motar, i can't help but feel like it would help me immensely if i decided to take up boxing, or when i shovel... All this grip training... I also workout 5 days a week but something about the labor i do works my muscles in a different way.

    Pushing wheelbarrows full of motar works your whole body, and when its up hill or on uneven terrain your legs are going to feel it.... punching power comes from the legs.
