Mosley had Void on ***** street, really had Void out on his feet, but then suddenly quit throwing punches as if he was afraid to knock him out! Something fishy.................although Mosley was finished, he sure should have had enough to have finished Void if he had wanted to..............

Canelo jab is average (for a champion), don't make Ike Quartey come out of retirement again

I agree that his jab is underrated but how in the hell is his jab better than Oscar's?

YOU don't go into hiding or make excuses.

Floyd is much better than you want to admit.

LMFAOOOO @ the thought of Canelo's jab being better than Oscar's.

That always tells you who JUST started watching boxing.

You're not watching the same fighter I am man. Canelo's jab is "ok" from a technical standpoint when he throws it, but it's nothing special and he rarely does throw it. Part of that is just his style because Canelo's natural style is to counter with power shots coming forward as opposed to jabbing, but it's probably his weakest punch. It was a total non-factor against the two best boxer-types he's faced in Alfonso Gomez and Austin Trout.

I think to be blunt he has more danger factor than most Floyd opponents with his size, skill, and power, but unfortunately doesn't have much of a chance even saying that, and that this fight has all the components to be an absolute stinker. Having watched Alvarez throughout a decent portion of his career, in my view his style can best be categorized as a somewhat aggressive counterpuncher. And when I say somewhat, what that means is that when he has a technique edge on his opponents(most of the time) and is given openings to counter, he comes forward and counters consistently while doing so. He looks very good when doing this.

The problem for him lies in when that advantage isn't there. This has happened on two occasions facing better boxer type fighters in Alfonso Gomez and his last fight against Austin Trout. Gomez caused Alvarez lots of problems mostly by giving him good upper body movement coming in on him and leading with a solid jab to set up his offense, he also mixed up his punches well. Gomez didn't give Alvarez many openings technically to counter him, and as a result, Canelo didn't throw much at all and Gomez was arguably winning that fight prior to Canelo getting by all accounts a mega-fast money fighter stoppage in the 6th round that was probably the worst stoppage of the year at the time. Against Trout, again Canelo didn't have the technical openings to counter on a regular basis and his workrate was minimal in that fight. Canelo was given some praise for his defense, but the dirty secret there is that he was rarely able to make Trout miss and make him pay throughout, and Trout was somewhat predictable with mostly straight punching. That fight could have gone either way but in Texas as the money fighter Canelo was given a ridiculous edge on the cards.

What all this leads up to is that the openings will be even fewer with Floyd, and not only that, Floyd has stacked the deck in his favor with the catchweight of 152 lbs. Canelo is a huge weight gainer on fight night, blowing up to as high as 172 lbs, and so that two pounds will likely be huge for him to make, hurting his already questionable stamina and making him more sluggish. Coupled that with Floyd probably playing the fight as safety-first as possible and what I see is a very low workrate fight from both guys, where Floyd occasionally single punch potshots Canelo with his jab and straight right and Canelo not being able to counter him at all with Floyd's technique and speed advantage.

^^ Where do you come up with this bro? Canelo's counters never looked better than they did against trout...trout was taller, faster and more mobile than anyone he's ever fought.
As for Gomez...canelo worked the shoulder roll that fight for some stupid reason and looked bad. Just like Broner and berto do when they try. The second he hit the gas and stopped f-cking around the fight was over!

Canelo's jab is gonna be great. The 2nd biggest punch he landed in the trout fight was a BOMB of a jab that they could hear in the top row.
Even in Ep1 of all access when he was sparring his brother in those 15seconds of footage...that jab looked razor sharp. That was before he even started training camp. He's had 8wks to sharpen that tool...

all the beautiful combos will come off that jab.

He never "hit the gas" against Gomez, he landed one big shot which is all he tried to do all night since he couldn't get his usual openings and then got a very fishy stoppage six seconds later when he put on the flurry after landing said big shot even though Gomez has a history of being able to take punishment, it was near the end of the round, and Gomez was blocking most of his shots. The commentators and most watching the fight thought the stoppage was ridiculously fast, but adopted pretty much a "who cares, he wasn't going to win" attitude, and since Floyd vs Ortiz had a huge controversy later, it was swept under the rug. And the actual amount of counters he landed on Trout were few and far between, once again, Canelo's fans went crazy over his defense and the one knockdown he got, but ignore the sketchy lopsided scorecards(which also happened in the Gomez fight) and the fact that while he made Trout miss a lot, he didn't make him pay much during that time. As to the "bomb" jab he landed, all Canelo's punches are hard punches, he loads up on everything he throws. The fact that he has a hard jab means nothing when he's not going to throw it enough for it to matter and it's not technically a good enough jab anyway to compete against a boxer with a decent one.
