Well, he was at a grotesque career high weight. Regardless, obviously not a legitimate win for Teper one way or another. He either quit because he was fat and didn't want to fight or he simply threw the fight. Salif is the post child for a modern self handcuffed fighter whom is welcomed back soley because he doesn't fight very hard. On purpose that is. Check out the Alexander Petkovic fight. It's on Youtube. One of the most laughable things I've ever seen. Salif accidentally knocks down Petkovic and looks to his corner with an "Oh ****" face. He then proceeds to cooperate with his opponent, and the ref, who DQ him for "low blows". He goes along with the act the entire time, bowing, mildly protesting. The British announcers are absolutely baffled and agast. Fight here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E9XmlsJaxg
Oh yes. Nearly forgot that one :-( One you probably dont know once happened here in Denmark. Thomas Damgaard won a technical decision against journeyman Chris Henry after Damgaards OWN corner stopped the fight :blood
:verysad No offense, Denmark seems to the worst offender in Europe when it comes to producing bloated records... Usually that are padded with older "name" fighters from other countries that are brought over because of a payday no one else is willing to give them. Soren Sondergaard is one of the most glaring examples that I can think of. Awful, padded record. Brian Nielson feasted on the likes of ancient versions of Tony Tubbs, Orlin Norris, Tim Witherspoon, Larry Holmes. Also fought the 40 something and 0 "Don Steele". One of the most corrupt runs at heavy you'll ever see, I've read articles on his opponents claiming they were paid to lose, to retire in-between rounds with injuries, etc. Then there's the previously mentioned Thomas Damgaard, Mads Larsen, Denis Holbaek Pederson... There's another Denmark based fighter that was getting a bit of hype. He was blasted out in one round several years ago. :huh What's up with that, really?
thank you for the information I. Does anyone else think this fight is a setup for a David Price, presumably a all brit clash against an older but still marketable in the United Kingdom heavyweight? Basically the type of opponents price for against on his way up. I feel Sprott was "awarded" the Helenius fight for beating Gerber. I think this might be a similar case to add credibility to a fight against Price. What say you?
I think maybe this got canceled. :huh It's hours after it would have taken place (now 3am in Central Europe) and there isn't a peep on Twitter or Boxing Scene or anywhere else on the net about it and no result up on Boxrec.
That usually means no competition. In the digital age you should be able to find something 4-5 hours after the fact...
On boxrec it said it was a free show... guess they just decided to not go through with it. If I don't see anything tomorrow morning, I'll just assume it's off... you'd think there'd be something on twitter though
The Main Event from Arnold Gjergjaj was cancelled, but Teper HAS fought. But nobody outside of switzerland knows the result.
