Cooper was tough as nails when he was focused and had a very quick and deceptive right hand. He took big combos and huge bombs (Mercer, Holy, Moorer) That would have Koed Morrison much earlier. I guess it would come down to how motivated they both are
I have to disagree here, Mercer/Holy/Moorer don't deliver "huge bombs", not even close. Holyfield has speed and accuracy but Moorer at Hwt had average pop at best and so did Mercer. Morrison was never bombed out like Cooper in the Bowe and Foreman fights and even in the Bentt loss it was his recklessness what let him down with the 3 knock down rule. IMO the best of the Duke wins against the best of Cooper, much more diversified attack /more will to win. Cooper's main problem were not his opponents but the crack pipe.
Bert Cooper at his best wins this. He may hit the canvas early as he did with Mercer and Holyfield but he would get up and keep banging away. Once the fight gets to the mid rounds Tommy would start to gas and Bert would start to grin. Cooper was the tougher guy. At that point its just a matter of time before Cooper knocks out Morrison. With that said if Bert Cooper was in one of his drug induced fogs ofcourse Morrsion would win. The OP said both at their best. Not much chance for Morrison.
