Raul Martinez vs. Daniel Quevedo, 8 rounds @ super bantamweight

 

Round 1

Martinez is catching Quevedo on the outside with his left jab and turning over the hook as he steps left. Quevedo is coming forward, ducking and rising with shots, game but out-sped.

Round 2

Quevedo is cut but opening up with powerful combos at mid-range, forcing Martinez to swap blows with him and back away. Martinez gets out and scores with the jab while circling after winning most of the exchanges but taking some lumps.

Quevedo is getting rocked by the left hook of Martinez as he dives in, but is still earnestly reaching out with ambidextrous breaststroke combos, holding nothing back. Martinez is put into retreat but still landing more accurately from the outside.

Daniel Ponce De Leon (guest commentator and unofficial scorer for the Fox Deportes broadcast) has it 29-28 to Martinez, giving Quevedo the 3rd.

 

Round 4

Quevedo is running in and slamming both fists down from maximum height overhead, forcing Martinez to scamper. Martinez gets the jab out and sticks Quevedo in the face with it but can't slow him down. Finally a solid counter 1-2 for Martinez and he manages to hurt Quevedo. Martinez presses the attack while Quevedo puts both arms up, playing for the crowd. The bell rings to save him from Martinez punishing his machismo.
