I tend to agree with you. Regardless, would love to see Vic find a way to avenge the loss. He will be highly motivated, no doubt. But as you say, that probably won't be enough. Everything just seems stacked against him.

I picked Vic by KO, but I think Donaire by KO or points is more likely.

    WAR DARCHINYAN!

With all the excuses (didn't train, didn't study tapes, shoulder injury, pregnant wife, was there to entertain while Rigondeaux was there to win rounds, etc) you'd think he'd be quick to want to jump back in the ring with Rigondeaux and show everyone what a fluke that loss was. :yep

That thought did cross my mind as well, but the reality is, after being outclassed the way he was against Rigondeaux, stepping back in immediately would probably be a bad business move. I'm reminded of Mosley taking immediate rematches with Forrest and Winky. (For that matter, I'm reminded of Mosley granting them each fights in the first place, when Vernon and Winky were respectively stuck on the outside looking in).

All I've been hearing from Arum is Nov. 9th. Did he decide to push it back because of GBP's PPV on the 9th?

This fight gives him the perfect chance to try to shift the focus to a new excuse and hope this one sticks: he was "drained." Then once the fight is over, Donaire can call out Rigondeaux, but only at 126, and if Rigondeaux is unwilling to spot him even more pounds in the ring, he can be labeled the true ducker and Top Rank can act justified as they pretend the fight never happened.

Ironically, Rigo needs the Donaire rematch more than Nonito despite winning handily. It's almost as if the first fight never happened in some ways- Donaire's still going to get the money fights, and Guillermo's still one of the leading members of the "Who needs him?" club, on the outside looking in.

It's like Zahir Rahim-Erik Morales all over again. Morales getting beat didn't change his career arc a bit; Arum's going to make sure the big fights with Nonito still happen, loss to Rigo or not.

And Guillermo will still be chilling on the sidelines. :verysad

You'd think one of the other promoters would've inquired about buying his contract out by now, but then again, they don't call it the "Who needs him?" club for nothing.

I know. My point was really just that Nonito's full of **** with his lame excuses. He was outclassed by a much better boxer period. After he said "I'm not gonna make excuses" he should have stopped talking and not proceeded to string together about ten of them.

In fairness, that applies to just about any other fighter who ever uttered the words "I'm not going to make excuses.....BUT".

It all depends on which Donaire gets into the ring. I expect Donaire to win, by dec. or TKO, but I am not psychic.

I don't have much respect for the Donaire who fought Rigo...........
