I actually take this as good news! It shows you can recover from neurological damage in a relatively short time. I'd be interested to know what sort of training he still did and what sort he avoided during this time. I'd imagine he's forgone sparring (or maybe he hasn't!).Anyone got anymore info on this topic?
Goes to show that the modern 1 or 2 fights a year model does have it's advantages.

 

It just has to do with short term recovery from a bad concussion, the long term damage has still been done. Any further concussions and his chance of long term neurological degeneration increases exponentially.

He wasn't the least bit unknown, he was a headlining act on FNF several times. He was unknown maybe to people who only ever watch boxing if it's on HBO, maybe - but then so are 99.999999% of boxers.



As for dangerous...well, no. He shouldn't have been dangerous. The stupidity was in the way Bradley fought him. The scouting report on Provodnikov was that he looked mediocre, one-dimensional and beatable (especially for someone who could outbox him) in many of his televised performances. Bradley should have gone in with a game plan and not elected to freely trade, and it would have been the easy work it was supposed to be.

 

I'm not surprised - he was unconscious for half the fight!!!

 

I respect Bradley

He is up there with the better boxers on the 147 division... Can he beat an Elite Marquez? Marquez really is on the verge of retirement...

 

I think despite getting the result he so long sought (and deserved thrice over) the Marquez who knocked out Pacman is quite a bit worse than any version of himself from the original trilogy.

He was in the fight but looking a bit ragged before he pulled out that counter right hand. If that effort through five rounds is exemplary of his current maximum performance then Bradley may have a chance...provided his idiotic choice to brawl with a brawler two levels below him didn't truly ruin him...

 

Easy, go to google scholar and type in concussion. Actually just google in general, you can find out basic information about concussion just about anywhere.
I'm actually shocked that a fan of a contact sport can be so unaware of the repercussions from repeat concussions. It's kind of everywhere with the issues in the NFL, have you been hiding underneath a rock?

After Marquez, regardless of the result, I don't think anyone could reasonably fault him should he make that choice. It will have been a very respectable career even should it end on a loss, and hopefully any sour grapes about Pacquiao not getting to avenge the controversial loss are quelled by the FOTY candidate he gave us with Provodnikov (someone he easily could have outpointed in a safer manner) and then jumping in with Marquez.

Whether you were ever a fan, if October 12th is his swansong, you'll have to view Bradley with respect.

Plenty of guys hang 'em up in or near prime. No shame in preserving health after giving so much already.
