Fights that ruined a fighter's career, win or lose?

  1. Khan v Peterson

Khan had beaten kotelnik, malignaggi, maidana and judah and was closing in on the worlds best.
The first 3 rounds he had Peterson all over the shop, dropping him and killing him with speed.

But lamont kept coming and attacked the body furiously for round after round and you could see the confidence and strength drain from amirs eyes.
Tight fight but one where khans flaws were brought up to the fore for the boxing world to note.

Not been the same since and I don't think he ever will be.

    Trinidad v Vargas.

Main Events put Vargas in too early. Ruined his career. Vargas was never the same fighter again.

    Pavlik v Hopkins.

Neary v Ward. Neary was never world class anyway but this fight ended him.

trinidad vs reid, reid if i can remember was built as a very good prospect, but put in against a p4p champion after trinidad had come of his win against odlh in his 12,13 fight? was ridiculous career managing

Herol Graham ruined Rod Douglas, who was a very promising prospect before he took on Bomber Graham.

Reid was being cashed out due to his droopy eyelid. His management did him a solid, getting him the biggest money fight they could.

Anyone who claims Mayweather, or Collazo ruined Hatton, is either a Yank, a moron, or a combination of both.

Kostya Tszyu ruined Hatton. On any other night Hatton could never have taken the shots the Aussie / Russian hit him with.

Oh, and Eammon Maghee was the first to test that chin, not Collazo.

collazo had him out on his feet in their fight. ricky was on his knees at one point and the ref didn't rule it a knockdown even though he should have.

Griffin was a very good fighter until Roy iced him in one.

Magee had him flat on his back, and later in the round had him holding for dear life when he caught him with a similar shot.

Furthermore both Magee, and Kostya were 140 pounders, not full blown Welters like Collazo.

Perhaps a controversial one, but I think Abraham ruined Dirrell. I'm not suggesting that he actually caused Dirrell any brain damage, but it looks as if he might have put him off world-level boxing, at least for a while...
